Carburetor Recommendations for 250 inline 6

Hi All,

I need a carburetor for a 1978 250 Inline 6. Where is everyone getting carbs these days? Any recommendations for replacement carbs to the Rochester Monojet?

My truck doesn't currently run. I poured gas in the carb today, and it leaked badly. Before turning the engine over.

I would put a 4 barrel on it, with it still attached to a 350.

Right! Maybe someday. The goal now is to get the truck running. Fingers crossed it passes emissions, and I can get it registered.

Unless the existing carb is physically damaged, best bet for a quick fix is to buy a carb kit and refresh the one you have.

Depending on the difficulty of your state's emission checks, replacing the OEM carb with something else may get the evil eye of the inspector. And you would likely have to buy a manifold adapter, linkage pieces and a new air cleaner housing to get the new one to work.

Actually the carb on the truck is from some other vehicle. Not sure what it is. That's the reason I'm looking for a carb that would have come on the truck originally.

Hello,

Do these pics help? You can see the previous owner cut and bent the fuel line to work with this Carburetor. It's actually a Rochester of some kind.

Re: Carburetor Recommendations for 250 inline 6

A GM carburetor book lists a 1ME Monojet for a 78 250. It shows different numbers for light duty and heavy duty versions.

The one you have is missing the choke stove cover. Looks like that one pipe is meant for one side of the heat stove instead of being a vacuum source.

Not sure when they switched from a exhaust heat source to an electric one.

I think this is a Rochester Model BC with Automatic choke. Yeah I see the choke cover is missing. The heat pipe was also disconnected. Thanks though, I can search for a 1ME Monojet.
