69 burb with only 3 doors

My cousin and I just bought a complete but rusty suburban with only three doors on it. (not counting the back tailgate). The drivers side does not have a rear door, just panel. Has anybody ever heard of these. We originally bought it for parts but now are considering fixing it up and getting it running. What do you guys think?

you should fix it up,these are great trucks....

Actually all 67-72 burbs had only 3 doors,in 1973 they added another on the driver side

3 door are all they made til 73, 4 door is all they made in 73-up, no 4's in 67-72 and no 3's in 73-87, at least not that i know of.,
correct me if I am wrong on the 73-up bit,.

Years ago when my burb was at the body shop in my home town, my nephew(on my wife's side, they aint the smartest u no) was telling me that some idiot had welded the 2nd door on the drivers side shut on that burb. I told him it wasn't welded, it was never there. I was then told I didn't know what I was talking about. It was fun watching his expression when I said I should know since it was my burb.

This is what they can look like with a lot of time. I was lucky, I didn't need a mortgage to get it in this shape.

Now, now everyone take it easy on cjwilson99. I would think this would be a common response from someone that may have never seen one of these burbs before. Besides, we are here to help, and not to make each other feel like we asked a stupid question. You have to admit that it would look like a prety strange set up to someone that has not seen a truck like this.

God knows I have asked plenty of questions that probably have seemed stupid to some of you

cjwilson99, Welcome to the Board!!!!

I was cornfused about the doors once too. I have only had to explain the 'burb door situation once since I got mine.

'?? - '66 -- two doors
'67-'72 -- three doors
'73 - now -- four doors

Think they'll ever get to five or six doors?

They have prototypes built of a 6 door Burb in the newest body style. It has extended cab type suicide doors for the back two. Easier access to the third seat. I think they may have scrapped the idea of putting it into production though.

Dont feel bad the pre 67's only had 2 doors except for a 8 door running around here. Its an old airporter transport. Love to get that. It would make a great party wagon.

Believe it or not they did make a few 4 door in the 67-72 time frame. I have a junkyard near me that has a Gulf Oil 4 door Suburban. I thought they all had 4 doors until I got to talking to people on here. It has been setting on the ground (no wheels) for years so not much left to work with. Next time I'm up there I will try to take a pic (it is in 10 foot weeds).
