NICE!!! Don't know that I personally have ever seen that color combo on these trucks.

Got the inside and various other parts painted today . I never made it to my granddaughters party . Picked up mom on Thursday and she developed a bad cough Friday . Sure enough tested positive for Covid so she’s staying till Friday at least . So I worked on the truck yesterday and today .

She has only a cough slight fever Friday night but that’s gone , All in all pretty mild been three full days and I’m not showing any symptoms but waiting till wed to go out and about .

Thanks I really like single stage on a use truck no need for BC/CC . Also helps having a good gun . I replaced my old Seta with a Tekna Pro Lite not cheap but sprays sooo nice. Now on to the doors and fenders yay! Sarcastically

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

I cleaned out the Pcv port and baffle on the valve cover on my 5.3 l33 Ls. Recently swapped into my 72 C10.
From what I have read, the port can get plugged up on the 2005-2007 engine, so it was time to check it out……

I would be torn as well, after finishing the swap, I do like the power ( I want more) it starts instantly, and with the 6 speed manual transmission freeway driving is now possible. But…. A big block would be awesome, I do love the simplicity, and how clean an engine bay can look, without all the extra wires needed for the LS. So I guess I need 2 trucks, I love both the modern technology, as well as the old school simplicity. One with each, that way I could enjoy each one for what they are…

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

I installed a new Cigar Lighter in my '68 C/10 Stepside. The old one shorted out when the spring-loaded positive tip of a plug [going to a recharger solar panel] broke off and crossed the ground to the hot. Fried up a lot of wires under the dash. I had the Dash Panel and Heater Controls off or hanging down to get a good look. While the Red line feeding the Cigar Lighter burned its insulation off, none of the other wires near it were burned. Some had charred lengths of Cigal line stuck to them. I chackefd all the lines, and reinforced any singeing with E-tape. T prevent a repeat, I spliced an inline fuseholder w/ 15 A fuse between the Cigar tab on the fuse block and the lighter socket.
While I had the Speedo cable loose, I disconnected the other end at the SM465 -- pulled the flex cable out of its sheath and dusted it with graphite lube. I think I noticed a 2 Mile bump on the Odometer. It was reading 234 before. After I reassembled the Dash, Ash Tray, Heater Controls and tested the Cigar Lighter for function, the Odo read 236.
Go figure?
Since my Fuel Gauge has been reading Empty lately, I'm dependent on accurately guessing my mileage and fuel intake level.
I did a 20 mile run to test and check my systems and the Cigar socket, as a port for my GPS. I still notice a little wobble in the Speedo needle at 60 MPH (indicated) [62 GPS]. I may need more miles to settle in and read right.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Today I replaced a broken rocker arm stud. I first attempted the job with the head still installed, but ended up pulling the head off yesterday. I first tried cutting new threads and using stacked washers to pull it out, but the threads gave out before it started moving. While still in the truck, I then tried welding a stud on top of the broken one to use for pulling it, but wasn’t able to get a good weld, mainly because of the location and my inexperience with welding. Welding in an assembled motor is scary, so I pulled the head, removed all the valves, and then was able to get a good enough weld to pull the broken stud. I tapped the hole, threaded in a new stud, reinstalled all the valves, and will start putting the motor back together tomorrow.

This is the second stud that broke after installing a mild lift cam (.454/.454) last year, and based on the location of the break on both, which was just at the base of the threads, it looks like the slots in the stock rocker arms were not long enough causing this issue. I now have new rocker arms with longer slots and should know if I solved the issue soon. Pictures are the first stud that brok and the second one I pulled today.

I did the exact same set up wired to the stock switch. I love it.

Dash is coming along . I used duplicolor Arizona Beige for the column and the top of the dash it looks the same in pictures but is much darker and I put a two wet coats and then misted it to kill the gloss.

AZ Beige, Huh? Looks a lot like the old interior Irridescent Fawn Poly they used a lot in '67 and '68.

The dash itself is Saddle fawn poly as is the rest of the truck . The Duplicolor is a couple shades darker hard to see with the lighting

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

OK Thanks.
I need to repaint my original steering wheel. I've had a SeaFoam Green one on as a loaner,* while I rebuilt the wheel. Now it only needs to get repainted.
But I can't get Fawn easily anymore.
If I go with another shade, I'll have to paint the steering column too. That leads to Mission Creep, and I don't want to 'down' a daily driving work truck.
[*And it looks like hell.]
