My first day with her

I bought my 67 GMC fleetside two weeks ago for $900 and had to tow it to the house. She sat in the garage, smelling it up, until yesterday. I had my first day with her. My wife got mad and went shopping. Have you ever spent so much on your credit card, so fast, in so many places, that the credit card company shuts it off and call the house? She did. I didn't care. I was up to my elbows in dirty oil and tranny fluid. (my wife made me strip in the garage!) I used the day to document and take plenty of photos, no not of me posing with her, just all her unfortunate flaws. Some cosmetic, some critical.
Needs: New carb-has Rochester Quad but it is so leaky it's brown, all over.
Battery-has tiny Nissan battery, looks like boat battery.
All Electrical-and I mean all of it. It looks someone put it in a blender and mixed in some battery acid.
New Exhaust-The previous owner took cheap headers, cut off the flanges, and welded straight pipes to them.
Bolts-Everywhere, it seems. You know the frame crossmember where the engine mounts are attached? Yep, those. There is only one holding the rowdy 350 in it's cage. Don't want it to escape!
The guts in the doors, everything.
Some people would say it's a wreck, I say it's a blank canvas.
It has some good points, though. The engine is a 350 manufactured in 1984, a good 4 speed tranny (700), 6 bolt hubs, and almost no rust.
She just needs a makeover.
Can't wait till my next date with her!

X's 2.

Great story book line. Just like out of love novel. Almost made me shead a tear. Congrats on the find.

Here are the pix. Right now she is a double-bagger, but with a makeover, she will be the "girl next door". I am hoping for a centerfold!
