1963 windshield wiper and washer pump wiring

I'm having issues with my wiper motor . I'm using the white wire from harness and just bought a new switch .. 2 speed .. But all the wiring diagrams that I have in factory assembly manual only show the one white wire going to the switch . the switch shows 3 connection points and I don't have any other wires coming out of the harness that I can see .. Might have been cut .

I don't have a problem abandoning the harness and wire it direct from the fuse panel but I'm not an electrician .

Could someone show me a correct diagram with the wiper motor and washer pump schematic or a correct way to bypass the harness so I can run the wipers with new switch ?

Also how to identify if my wiper motor is 1 speed or 2 .. Motor says type E on it

I appreciate any and all assistance in fixing this

wiper motors of that era have a hot wire to the motor and ground thru the switch
the hot wire to the motor keeps the motor powered in the off position to park the wipers
thus the 1 wire going to the switch, the switch is grounding the motor
one wire indicates you have a 1 speed motor

rereading your post indicates you have a washer pump(?)
this is for the 2 speed motor with washer pump from one of the threads on here

That second diagram with different connectors is what it looks like under dash .. The hoses for the washer pump are all installed at the motor location .. Would they install the hoses if there wasn't a washer pump ? .. My motor only has 2 connection points and probably is only a single speed

I will take photos under dash and post .. Best to know what I'm looking at and asking for .. Lol

That second diagram really puts me in the neighborhood so I'll shoot the pics and get me to the party

Here we go with photos :

First is the harness white wire plus this black wire not in the harness

Second is the black wire going to connector that continues to motor connector

Third is the pink and what or yellow that goes to fuse and maybe ground

Fourth is the pump hoses at the motor

Fifth is the extra motor with same amount of connectors

So anyway that is what I'm looking at but I do think I have a one speed motor with perhaps a washer pump installed maybe after market or at the dealers

Possible that originally came with washer, but sometime in it's life was changed?

Do you know of a comparable pump year that doesn't have to attach but will connect using the wiring that I have shown in the photos ?

It appears I have the tubing in place and the water bottle under the hood and a couple of stacked connectors with a connection at the switch .. But its a one speed motor

Confusing for me .. Any help would be great

unless your doing a points restoration on the truck...
you could make any stand alone 12v washer pump work with the switch

I know this is an older thread, but it was printed out for me by the fine folks at Tucker’s Classic Auto here in Utah.

I was asked by a friend to rewire his son’s 1963 C-20 pickup cab. The windshield wiper motor was controlled by a toggle switch someone previously installed, and he gave me a replacement wiper switch/knob from Tucker’s. The only stock electrical connection remaining was the 2-wire plug as shown in Post #5 (pink & white wires)…the pink went to the toggle switch and the white wire was grounded to the cab sheet metal.

Thanks to the great advice and links posted here, I was able to reverse-engineer a working setup for single-speed wiper motor and replacement switch. I ran switched 12V power to pink wire on wiper motor, then white wire went to wiper switch on the dash; instead of removing paint & rust on dash, I simply installed a dedicated ground wire (with a 1/2-inch ring terminal to fit around switch body) to a new common ground system I installed. It now works as it should and looks stock.

There’s no washer tank nor fittings, so I didn’t even get into the other missing plugs/wires for that function…the owner is happy that the wipers work for now, but someday I might be tasked with installing the other wiper accessories. If so, then thanks to the great photos/schematics/advice posted here, it can be done.

Thanks to all who posted the great info here, it really helped me in my reverse-engineering task. The schematics were helpful in many other ways as well.
