spare tire location

I just bought what I thought was a cool alternative to locating my spare tire. The hanger under the bed was a wreck and was wired to the underside. And with the dual exhaust just a bit too snug, I needed an out.
I bought this T-handle that goes under the lip of the bed but the lug hole is too low for it to work well.
What have you guys done???

We don't carry spares unless we go on long trips. We just throw an old spare in the bed when we do make the longer trips.

Mine is currently strapped to the side of my rollover bar in the bed with a cargo strap, thinking about fabbing up a proper mount for it at the side of bed as it's too wide to fit in the stock location underneath. Oh, it also has a chain and padlock to deter any light fingered passers-by

I use in the bed factory spare carriers. You can noprmally get them through the parts board on this site for $20-$30
