Default Email Notifications & Thread Subscriptions for New Members

I have noticed that new members have a tendency to create new threads and then they are slow to get back on there to reply to responses people post. I'm wondering if this occurs because the default settings for a new account have automatic subscriptions turned off. I'm also wondering if the same thing applies to private message email notifications for new accounts. It might make it easier for new members to interact with other members if automatic thread subscriptions and PM email notifications were enabled by default.

The problem is, after that huge spam fest a year ago many providers throw site mail directly to spam. Yall never get the mail at all. We obviously are working hard on our end to prove we are not spam... but.. everyone here can do a few things to help

1. do not click this is spam when you get mail from the site.
2. add the site to your allowed email list
3. check your spam file. If you have site mail in there, mark it as not junk.

I know years ago we had to change those email settings due to server issues. I will send this to Josh as it may not be a problem now. Thanks for the suggestions.

I'm new and have my account set up for "instant email" for new posts to subscribed threads and never get any emails in my main or spam emails.

I only come back to check my threads every week or so and miss a lot of comments to my posts. Not sure why I don't get the emails?
