72 k20

Im new here; anybody ever put a 292 in a 72 K20 that had a 350 V8; any input appreciated; 4sd 4wd; thanks. b5chevyben

the cross member for them is different. there is currenty a thread about this, and that the 4X4 x-member is different yet. however, if you're a good welder, you can get around this.

I never bought the truck so I don't know how they did it but in my old neighborhood there was a little old man with a factory 1969 K20, 4-speed. It had a 292 in it with "8-350" badges on the fenders. I asked him about that. He said the 350 was a dog so at around 18,000 miles he brought it back to the dealer and had them install a 292.
The truck had 41,xxx on it when I saw it last in 2002.

Long story short it is possible. I would find a donor 71 or 72 that came from the factory with a 292. That way you'd have everything correct which in my experience makes it much easier to get parts when you need them.

The deal with the 292 is it's the only motor with the mounts are staggered. That is what you need to deal with.
