Rear Coil Spring Differences

My C10 came with the G50 HD Rear Spring option, which is a heavier variable-rate spring vs. the standard constant-rate option. I installed a new set of these variable-rate springs when I restored it. But now I'm thinking about swapping these out with standard rear springs. I can speculate about what it might be like, but I'm really interested in anyone's lived experience comparing these two springs (stock height):

1) I read a very old thread here that said this G50 variable rate spring option will make the rear sit higher than the standard rear spring (unloaded). Is that true? If so, how much?

2) When driving my LWB around empty, should I expect to notice a difference in ride quality between the G50 variable rate springs and a set of standard springs? In other words, is there much difference between the softer end of the variable rate springs and the constant rate of the standard springs?

I'm wondering if the rear springs from a truck and a Suburban are the same or different...much more weight on the Suburban springs....

I had some Moog springs put on my Stepside back when Sears still had an automotive shop. The kid put them on upside down, and it messed with the ride. Also made the load pitch up like a catapult. I had to go back. Once they were installed with the proper orientation, they've worked fine ever since.
The unloaded bed does rise somewhat. If anything, it gives a forward lean to the stock stance.

Pontiacyince, there are only two types of replacement springs I’m finding for a half-ton: the standard springs and the var-rate HD option. I’m unsure if those are what a Suburbane would have come with. I’d really like to have the lightest stock spring possible and maybe a 1” drop from where it currently sits. I bet you’re right that a Suburban spring would be heavier than the standard half-ton pickup spring.
