Re: Gas Prices?

Apparently, the station where I saw the lower price was asleep at the switch? Today, they are up with everyone else. $3.69

Sad but true. But that's the pond I'm swimming in.

Re: Gas Prices?

Yep, they gotcha. We all have to pay whatever the price.

Looks like our prices did jump back up a bit after all. About ten cents, $3.79.9

Re: Gas Prices?

Dropped a dime here locally, as in lowered from $3.49 to $3.39. With no power over the price I'll take what I can get on the lowering scale.

I didn't rat somebody out by "dropping a dime", LOL

Trivia: Do you know where the term "Dropping a Dime' originated?

I don't know where the term "Rat' came from I don't know what rats have to do with telling on somebody.

Seems I recall the dropping a dime originated from when phone calls "used" to be dime when there were actually phone booths on every other corner. A phone booth was easy to use to anonymously turn some in to the police or a rival organization. ?????

Being a RAT I believe originated from the fact a rat will turn on it's own kind if the circumstances are dire enough to prevent it's own survival?

Boy, this thread got off on a tangent with this.

Yup California will be a third world state. People will be rebuilding older cars for ever and since they dont rot it's possible to have a car indefinitely. Where we live not so much always makes me laugh when NY adopts California vehicle regulations. Not often do you see a 25 year old car as a daily year round driver .

Re: Gas Prices?

Low price here today is $3.05. Others here dropped to $3.10 this week but jumped back up to $3.29 yesterday.
I swear, I cannot figure out their reasons for hikes and drops or when. Used to we could expect price changes on certain days of the week, but not anymore.

Re: Gas Prices?

It has slowly inched back to the low of $3.35 from a couple of weeks ago. Just a few days after getting to that point, it spiked back up to $3.69, so dropping a few cents here and there since.

Under its former Governor, Virginia tied its emissions laws to those enacted by the state of California. Therefore, VA too is on deck to phase out sales of new internal combustion passenger vehicles by 2035. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/techn...35/ar-AA11a4nx

Maybe there’s something Youngkin can do about that. New Mexico is on the carb list as well so I assume we are also on tap-that will be a hoot if it’s the case, all of the EVs on the side of the road with dead batteries because there isn’t a target parking lot every 5 miles apart. I don’t see anyone in NM Gov’t reversing it like Virginia could maybe do.

Re: Gas Prices?

I've noticed this week it's about $.20 cheaper than it was my last post. Regular is $3.59.9. Good thing because I'm about due a gas stop. It's tank by tank. What a mind game? I'll feel this time because it's cheaper than last time. Not cheap, just cheaper. If it goes up 10c I'll feel

What I find odd is no matter what the price in this latest gas situation they are more unified than I ever recall. All summer long, with the ups & downs, almost every station has had the same price.

6.09 for mid grade where I live, but if I drive 15 miles down the freeway I can get it for 5.05. I made the trek yesterday and filled up my truck, 5 gas cans and 2 diesel cans. 260.00 frigg'n dollars. Just the 7 cans were 210. Diesel was 6.09

Gas prices dropping pretty quick around here seems like 10 cents every other day or so. Down to $3.35 for regular yesterday afternoon. You would almost think an election is coming up soon

OPEC Plus Agrees to Cut Production by 100,000 Barrels a Day
OPEC said Monday it would reduce oil production next month, the cartel's first output cut since the depths of the pandemic, as it braces for a global economic slowdown to hit demand.
The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and allied oil producing nations, including Russia, agreed to shave 100,000 barrels per day off their production targets in October.
Just a month ago, the OPEC+ group agreed to increase production in September by the same small amount — equivalent to about 0.1% of global demand — after coming under intense pressure from the United States and other big oil consumers to do more to bring down energy prices and inflation.
