MPG poll

This has been discussed before, and I'm sure maybe even a poll... but I have no recollection of it so...
(you can vote more than once...since some of you have more than one truck)

Also.... feel free to describe your rig's mechanicals... stock, mild, wild... inline, small block, big block, cross breed... stick shift, slush box, one to one, over drive... 4X4 4X2...blah blah blah...

Mine is a cross breed caddy 500 wearing an Edelbrock 750 on top with a one to one (TH350) slush box automatic with a 4.10 in the rear... I get 10 MPG.

I went with the 10-12. Last time I checked it was 11.5 mpg. But I haven't checked since going to the taller tires. Most of my miles are at highway speed so maybe I'm getting a little better? I also try to keep the speed to around 65 instead of 75-80. Of course my speedo is off some from going taller too....

voted 14. '69 GMC short step 4X2, 3.73 and 33's. all those RPM calcs are bull cuz it says i should be at 2700RPM at 60, where im at like 3K. but anyhow, i run a NP435GA. im gonna step down to somewhere 3.08 to 3.42 and a 29 or 28" tire

The old longhorn is running an Edelbrock rpm topped 383,with a comp XE268 cam,400 turbo with a 2500 stall converter. all that runs through a set of 3.40 gears, on a 29" tall tire. 3000 rpm cruise on the hyway gets me right at 73 mph,& will go right at 10mpg ......if driven easy(thats a big IF at times tho ). I voted in the 10-12 mpg range. When I have the nerve to check it, usually comes in just a hair over 11-11.5 range. Stock 350, (not orginal to the truck) 2bbl, 4 speed, 4x4 with NP 205, 31-10.50's on rallies, 4:11 gears. Generally does best if I stay between 55-60 on the high way. Have to drive it like Grandpa, light foot, no speed shifting. (But then, how do you speed shift a granny 4 speed, )

I have gotten 14.75 out of my C10. That's in the left lane of the interstate with the A/C wide open. I have a 350 with an Edelbrock intake, underdrive pulleys, MSD coil and wires, roller tip rockers, K&N filter and filtered lid with a quadrajet. It has a turbo 350 trans and a 3.08 gear. I have also removed the engine driven fan and replaced it with an electric Flex-a-lite unit.
I have gotten a high 12 out of my K10. It is almost an identical setup with the addition of a 4x4 cam. It runs a 33x12.50 M/T claw and a 3.08 gear. It would probably pick up a mile or two per gallon with a less aggressive tire.

I think I got 120 miles per tank one time, and was happy with that What is that, 6-ish mpg? That was with a smogger 350, 3.73's and 29" tires. I'm sure the 406 is gonna be even worse.
