headers
anyone have help on 350 headers. i have replaced the headers and went the ceramic coated headers instead of painted ones. well these have started to rust at the flange to engine and also at the tubes to the junction where the tubes meet the collector. thinking i will go the stainless steel route this time. has anyone used stainless before and have they held up to no rust. this truck is only driven in nice weather ie only summer and no rain period !!! thanks.

Pre-coated parts are often not done with top quality products and I have had a pair of ramhorn knock offs do the same. This time I sent my own parts to Jet-Hot in hopes of a more durable finish. They offer a lifetime waranty and claim in videos that they are often recoating parts just like yours. They did mine with "silver polish" and Ive got a few good drives on them now and they still look great.

My Hedman ceramic coated Elites have already rusted away. I think they lasted 10-12 years. I'd say it's a little better than paint but not a miracle product.

Hey, get Doug Thorley, My set are over 30 years old
I have Doug Thorley thick tube and thick flange headers and they are nickle coated I put them on a built 1972 010 small block with 441 cast heads installed in my 1981 K20 built over 30 years ago . 30+ years, never leaked, never rusted, still going strong like new. .I dont know how hedmans are now days, but the old days they were just thin, cheap, junk headers I had some hooker headers years ago that were just ok,

A bit late on the posting but the ceramic coat on my Dynomax headers is still good about 27 years later. Swapping them out soon due to issues with leaks at the mating surfaces to the heads. These were budget type headers back in the 90s. Very likely that the quality of the ceramic coat has gone down over the years.
