Towing 1972 Blazer in an enclosed trailer.

Do any of you transport your first generation Blazer in an enclosed trailer. I’m in the process of purchasing one but it sure looks like it’s going to be a tight fit. You can’t get wider than 8 1/2 feet. From my measurements there will only be an inch and a half to 2 inches on each side to the cables for the ramp door to the mirrors.

There should be 9 to 10 inches on each side once it’s in the trailer. But the wheel well stick out about 7 inches on each side and up about 12 inches. On the four-wheel-drive blazer I believe this is doable but tight. I believe on my 2 Wheel Dr. Blazer I’m going to need to climb out the back. Hopefully some of you have some suggestions or experience but it have to be enclosed.

Re: Towing 1972 Blazer in an enclosed trailer.

I have seen quite a few closed in trailers with a side door that lines up with the drivers door making it easier to get in and out of. this is a premium one but they have different ones available.

Re: Towing 1972 Blazer in an enclosed trailer.

I don't have a Blazer but I have put my 64 Suburban and 51 pickup in an enclosed trailer. I couldn't drive in and get out of the truck if I wanted to, so I installed a winch in the trailer to pull them in.

If you want to drive in and get out, you will need a trailer with the large side exit. Those can be $15-20K which was out of my price range.

Also, if your Blazer is lowered I would recommend a trailer with drop axles and a beaver tail. These both help with the angle driving into the trailer.

Re: Towing 1972 Blazer in an enclosed trailer.

Its tight with a truck in a standard width trailer no experience with a 102" . The side door does make it easier to get in an out of the car/truck . That being said I had to climb out the window with the Chevelle In the trailer so your 2 wheel drive Blazer will be most likely the same deal . Door would hit the wheel tub inside the trailer. I use an open trailer not a perfect situation but I very rarely tow unless I'm towing one of the trucks with one of the others to a show.

Re: Towing 1972 Blazer in an enclosed trailer.

The 2 vehicles I will be towing to their new home and occasionally afterwards are both Blazers. The 2 wheel drive is going to basically be a roadster so climbing out the back should work OK.

I like the idea of a winch so you would just need to steer. Would love to see a picture of one of our trucks inside one of these trailers.

Thanks for the replies. Much apreciated.
