Stumped... What do you TBI guys think
Hi I got the truck rebuilt the TBI changed out all sensors & vacuum lines, gas pump & filter, I wanted a great start! & for a month it wanted to run! 70mph was definately not a problem at just over 2000 rpm!
Then it started to not want to start. Ignition coil & new distributor & reset the truck with a timing light. Any time I work on it I have the new battery recharged the night before so I feel like I have a good base. After the distributor & coil it had problems starting, & idling. It runs rough, dies alot. Last time I took it out it wanted to spudder & die off like it had no gas. I would push the gas & wait at first it wants to die, & then (if it doesn't die) at the last moment struggle to give power. Appreciate any thoughts, just frusterated that it isn't running right. Oh ya distributor isn't name brand. O2 sensor wasn't changed but everything else I got from AC Delco or Delphi. |

Did you have the set timing connector unplugged when you set the timing?

It could be a lot of things, but if it were mine I would check the coolant temp sender (http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=425788) and the throttle position sensor first, as well as the timing connector like ChevyTech suggested.

We are all guessing but sounds like mine when one of my injectors stopped up.

I go to a local AutoValue-affiliated store. For electronics/sensors I try to stick with Standard brand as they make a lot of OEM stuff and are generally reliable.

Re: Stumped... What do you TBI guys think
I would like to also add the distributor as a culprit
Simply because Cheap Chinese Manufacturing even if you pay more for a name brand Went through 3 new ones, & Distributor #3 was in there during that problem. The truck was hard to start, fuel milage was always crap, & wouldn't **** into OverDrive & the dash PRND321 Light wouldn't come on. All that changed with the 4th Distributor. PS The second new Distributor I spent more on & didn't run at all, & the first one was an Amazon cheapo that didn't work right. Inferior parts, the struggle is real y'alls!!!! |

Re: Stumped... What do you TBI guys think
I try to stick with parts made in North America. US, Canada, and Mexico seem to have better quality control than China. A lot of the Chinese parts I've bought look close but don't work right. I used to install Accel dist caps and rotors for my tune-ups until they were made in China. They might look similar but they sure didn't fit like the Made in Canada part I was used to. Chevrolet parts made in China just doesn't seem right, does it?
