Speedometer over speeding when cold temps.

I'm thinking of replacing the speedo. How would I go about resetting the new speedometer mileage reading to the old one? Thanks

Re: Speedometer over speeding when cold temps.

You can’t do that legally.
At least where I live.
Changing speedo won’t help. The solution is the Speedometer cable. Old grease inside makes the speedo read wrong.
You need to pull the speed cable out and clean out all the old grease and relube it.
I’ve cleaned them with acetone.
Then lubed with graphite spray.

I hadn't considered it was a cable problem. I'll give that a try. Thanks
