Dang, our builds are eerily similar. The hole saw I used for the filler tube was 2 1/8, you might get away with a two inch one, but I already had that one. I had to cut more from the frame than I initially thought I would have to, but it's all good, I don't ever plan on towing or anything. I don't have a good pic of it, but I can get you some. Your truck is coming along great by the way.

I found a guy to shorten my driveshaft today, just need to drop it off with him, and he said he can have it done in a day or so. One step closer.

Yes, I talked to a guy here just down the street from my work yesterday that is gong to do it for me. I was thinking I would have to find a different yoke for my new transmission but he said the one from my old 3 speed tranny is the same yoke. I guess alot of the GM transmissions use the same size. He quoted me $160 to shorten, balance, and install the new carrier bearing and ujoints. I just need to get the measurements and drop it off.

Well I didn't get much done on my truck this weekend, my brother finally got his car out of storage so we can get back to work on it too. He got a lift from a guy in Dallas a couple weeks ago, so we had to try it out. I'm just posting this mostly to keep up with the timeline on my build. I have a feeling I'm not going to get much done on my truck soon. Sorry about the crappy cell pics.

That lift is amazing, makes it kind of hard to get to the middle of the car though. Only thing better would be a two post lift I guess, hard to fit those in the garage though.

I think I would be really nervous under that lift. Maybe seeing it in person is better than the pics.

It does look crazy, but it is really stable. I was kind of questionable too, but he did a ton of research, and they are really stable. We actually tried rocking the car when we got it up and it wouldn't budge. You would have to lift the entire weight of one side to get it to move.

I have one at work and we use it all the time with no problems at all...

Pretty good game, stayed up a little late on a school night, work sucked this morning. I haven't done much to it in the last couple weeks. Been busy with the holidays, I'm to the point that I have to buy stuff before I can go any further. Gotta save up some cash. It's all good.

Not quite, I'm really itching to get it back together. It's going to kind of suck when I get the body back on, you won't see any shiny stuff underneath. It will be quite a while before I can get bodywork done.

I do still need the driveshaft done. I will holler at you as soon as I am ready. Thanks for checking up on my build guys!

Covering up the nice clean frame will just motivate you more to get the body nice and clean as well.

I'm already feeling that motivation without it being covered.

I got my steering column tonight, it's out of an early 90's truck. The guy I bought it from got a bunch of stuff out of some of the cash for clunkers cars and trucks his buddy was crushing at his salvage yard last year. I know some people won't like the newer column in the old truck but my interior is not going to be to some people's liking all together. I'm going to do a mostly custom interior, to get the newer creature comforts because this truck will be my daily driver when I'm done. I figure if I try to make it to everyones taste I would never get done! Anyway, I was able to get the column close to installed, going to need some finageling. I also got my brake lines ordered, they should be in early next week. I decided to use that new cunifer line from FedHill, it's supposed to be extremely easy to work with, and won't rust either. We will see, here are some pics of tonights work, not much but at least it's some progress.

The brown truck came by today! Dropped off my brakeline, I am using the Cunifer alloy line. It is rustproof and is supposed to be really easy to work with. I also bought a gauge cluster from an 02 Camaro that I'm going to try to get to work, it hasn't arrived yet though. I'm not sure if it's going to work or not, but we will see. It's nice and chilly in the garage right now, so I think it will be a couple days before I get the motivation to get back out there. Here are a couple pics of the newest parts.

The column was out of a 88-94 Chevy truck, not sure exactly what year, but they are all the same. I haven't gotten it finished quite yet, I ran into some issues with the wiring clips hitting the brake arm. It's been too dang cold in the garage to do anything for the last few days to get anything done.

I got my gauges tonight, did a little test fit to see if they were even going to work. Looks pretty good to me, I know some purists will not like it, but I can get all my gauges working for way cheaper than aftermarket gauges. That will help the budget right now. It's going to take some pretty creative fiberglass work to get them to fit in the original gauge panel, but I think I can do it. I also worked on getting my steering column in, it is fighting me all the way. I've almost got it in but it is hitting the brake light switch. I'm hoping I can find one that is a little more low profile so I can make it work. Here are some pics, don't be too harsh with your comments.
