Re: Project “Learning as I Go”

Got a little more done today, got my driveshaft shortened and finally got my airlines ran. I used some rubber lined clamps under the cab, but ran out, so I used the next best thing zip ties. It doesn't look too amazing but it works for me. I tied the airlines to the brakelines on the passenger side and the fuel lines on the drivers. Thanks for looking.

I took it to Precision Drive Ltd, it is down off I40 and Macarthur. They shortened, balanced, new ujoints and carrier bearing for $147 and some change. I thought that was pretty decent.

I will keep that in mind when I get ready for the heavy lifting? I hope I am done with that for a while though. Hopefully i will be driving this darn thing in a couple weeks.

Re: Project “Learning as I Go”

So thinking I would be driving it in a couple weeks was a little ambitious. I think I have everything I was waiting on to get her on the road now though, got a few more goodies in. Now if I can just buckle down and get to work, for some reason I haven't had the motivation lately to do anything with her. I got my air tank, compressor and everything I need to finish up my exhaust.

They are cherry bomb turbo mufflers. Not sure how they will sound yet, but they were cheap, so if I end up not liking the sound, I'm not out that much to replace them.

Re: Project “Learning as I Go”

I finally got my exhaust all finished up, and driveshaft in. Still need to go back and double check the torque on all the new hardware. I should be able to get the bed back on soon. I didn't notice I had one of my hangers upside down till I was completely done, it's ok though, no clearance problems, just looks a little goofy.

All the way up.

All the way down.

Re: Project “Learning as I Go”

Thanks for all the kind words! Started her up and it sounds great to me, hard to tell by the video, the sound quality isn't that great. My checklist is starting to get shorter. Finish my brakes, mount my compressor and tank, get my steering column mounted, wiring and gas tank filler and some other little stuff, and I should get her on the road. Finally!

Re: Project “Learning as I Go”

Still haven't been getting much done lately, been too dang hot. I was able to get the garage cleaned up, and the bed back on. Getting a little closer I guess. Of course the day I did all that it hit the record high this year 110 degrees. I had a little extra motivation to get some room in the garage, traded in the daily driver and didn't want the new rig setting outside. I know, it's a dodge, but it is bada$$!!

Re: Project “Learning as I Go”

I did hang the fender just to get an idea of what it will look like. I have been thinking about getting this thing primered while I save up for final paint and body work, but now I think I might just leave it. Only bad thing is that I am going to have to figure out a way to make the welds on the bed not look so bad. The new rig makes the old girl look really little setting there.

Don't paint it until after you've driven it, then if you still feel the need, go for it. Looking good as is!!
