DIZZY REMOVAL vs ENGINE PLACEMENT
Hey guys, i was thinking of removing my intake manifold for paint. I have a l-82 350 with 700r4 tranny. And it looks as if the motor is positioned in the rear motor mounting holes which places my distributor under the firewall cutout. Is it still possible for me to remove the distributor, even though it is kinda under the firewall cutout?? I know you have to pull the dist. straight up to remove and/or reinstall, but how long is it and is there any wiggle room after it disengages from the worm gear? Thanks for any info.

Re: DIZZY REMOVAL vs ENGINE PLACEMENT
yea it comes straight up, once it's out of the cam gear it has a little wiggle room but not much.

Re: DIZZY REMOVAL vs ENGINE PLACEMENT
Once you pull the cap off it should come right out. its a little tight but it will come out.

Re: DIZZY REMOVAL vs ENGINE PLACEMENT
my question is with the engine being so far back in the engine compartment, will i have enough clearance to get it out. it looks as if my motor mounts are in the furthest rearward mounting location making the distributor under the firewall cutout. thanks

Re: DIZZY REMOVAL vs ENGINE PLACEMENT
Yes... Remove the cap and rotor... As soon as the dist drive gear disengages the cam gear you will be able to tilt it towards you and it will just clear...

Re: DIZZY REMOVAL vs ENGINE PLACEMENT
I was going to say no real way of knowing unless you measure up and see how much room you got or at least show some pics or something, but try it, if it doesn't then just get it set back in place right and not worry about it.
