Re: New 2010..

Hope you like the new truck. I love mine. I have used a superchips and diablosport programmer. I would probably go with the superchips it is a little easier to operate and both seem to be comparable in the power department. Also the superchips let you play with transmission settings the diablosport does not support transmission tuning on the newer 2007 and up trucks.

Re: New 2010..

I did see good stuff about the superchips. One complaint i have so far is the response of the trans when you smash the throttle. Like a 2-3 sec delay. Ill most defiantly get the Superchip. How much of a difference did it make that you can feel? I have seen 25hp and another said 40hp. Superchips didnt make a claim i seen.

Re: New 2010..

You will be much happier with a custom tune from blackbear or nelson or wheatley than a programmer. The cost is somewhat comparable, the results are night and day difference. I have a bro-in-law who insists on the programmers because he trades trucks like changing clothes and they do nothing for performance compared to the tunes I've had.

Re: New 2010..

If you get a custom tune then you would have to send off your tcm and ecm. Or purchase another ecm and tcm so you could install your factory stuff if and when it has to go to dealership for service. That said I have a diablosport that I purchased through nelson performance and he installed a 87 and 93 tune on it as well as the diablosport tunes. The only thing is the diablosport does not support the tcm module (transmission). The nelson tune seems a little bit more responsive but the only true test would be to go to the drag strip and try it with both. I also had a superchips unit and if I had to do it over again I would just stick with it. Superchips claims around a 20hp on there 93 tune. That said it really depends on what other mods you do to the truck. If you plan on doing alot of upgrades then you would need a custom tune but for me I have only upgraded the exhaust and the handheld programmer does fine for me.
