What are the correct decals for a 1969 c 10 350? For the valve covers that is.
I have seen 350 invader listed in some catologs, others just black and gold 350 decals, others list hp decals. Some list tonawanda build some list flint.

I've seen some 69's with the gold "350" decal, or whats left of them. I've seen lots of others with no decals at all, but they may have been worn off or removed in the 30-40 years between new and when I saw them.

Invader were used on the GMC's if I remember and most of the Chevy's had the Tonawanda engine sticker

My 69 Custom 30 wrecker had remnants of a sticker on the passenger side only, nothing on the driver side. Looked like original paint on them both. From what I can tell, it was a large 350 decal, possibly. Nobody repro's them yet that I know of. Would love to get one or two for my resto...

LMC lists a pn 38-0258 "decal 350 gold on black", 1 required for 69-71 valve cover decal. They also list pn 38-0259 "Tonawanda #1 valve cover decal for 72 only again with 1 required. I haven't seen them but I am going to order some. Seems to answer application questions if they are correct.

These valve cover decals are year specific. 1969 used the black and gold square decal as shown in photo below. 1970 used the large "8 350" decal. This decal is similar to the "8 350" front fender emblem. Anyone have an original 1971 photo?

In this earlier post, the bottom picture was said to be from a 1972 GMC !!! I wonder if the 8 350 decal was used from 70-72 on ALL 350's - Chevy and GMC ?

I see the common denominator in all these posts is that the decals haven't lasted. Are the newer ones made of a better material or does the heat and wear and tear make those turn to crap, too?

The decal on my 69 only made it 1-2 years. Unfortunately, I don't recall with certainty what the design was, but I think it was just the black and gold "350".

They might have been decals like toy models use. (dip in warm water type) Not sure though.

If anyone is making some 69 style like in factorystocks post, I'll buy a few! Prefer crack and peel adhesive type as that might hold up better.

The "crack-and-peel" gold and black 350 decals like the one on my engine pictured below, are available in most of the truck catalogs - mine was from LMC Truck.

I'm still trying to find out if the 70 8 350 decal was ONLY on the passenger side valve cover - can anyone remember BACK THAT FAR ? LOL

As stated in my post above, I recall mine coming off... I was disappointed. I'm 75-80% sure it was only on the passenger side. There is still an adhesive "footprint" on the passenger side valve cover and no sign of adhesive on the driver side valve cover. The "footprint" appears to be approximately 4-1/4" by 1-1/4" or 1-3/8".

Steve, perhaps you could narrow this down if you can measure your decal.

Thanks for the measurements - I don't have one of the 8 350 decals yet !!! I'm going to have some made. So far the person doing the designing end of it was just going to guess the size by how it looked in the two pictures I've been able to find of it. I'll cut out a piece of paper with your measurements and put it on the valve cover and see how it looks. I'm really beginning to think that there was only one of the 8 350 decals on the passenger side valve cover from the factory. Could you possibly take a picture of your "footprint" and post it in this thread ? THANKS !!!

Pictures are attached. In pic 1 the bottom line is quite visible, the top line is less visible (shows up better on my computer) and the sides are not distinct at all. In pics 2 and 3 I've outlined the footptint with tape. The size is closer to 4-1/2" by 1-1/2" rather than what I mentioned in my earlier post. The size, placement and pattern left by mine is very much like that in picture 4 of your post 5 above. This size appears to be too small for the "8 350" decal shown above. Remember, mine is a 69.

THANKS - that really clears THAT up !!! Your footprint is defiantly too small for the 8 350 decal. I think it might have started in 70 and maybe went up to 72 ( one of the 8 350 pictures above was said to be a 72, but that might have been wrong ) - maybe it is a 70 only decal. I'm going to have some made anyway . . . it will be a conversation starter for sure !!!

It was said to be an original 71 with a 307.

It looks pretty close to the 8 350 size - I'd love to know if it said 8 307 !!!

I also saw one on here that said "307 Thriftmaster" or something like that. I believe it was factory correct. Anyone know for sure? And how is it possible that everything else is repopped for these trucks, but not the sticker? wierd

The first picture below, is from H&H Classic's website - they seem to have the 307 decal that has been installed on the valve cover in the second picture.

Just below the second picture, is a previous thread answering the "Thriftmaster" question.

I didn't see an "8 350" decal A N Y W H E R E on H&H's website !!!

( but at least we found the 307 decal )

The 350 decal I have on mine has been on there for a few years, but I don't drive it very much.

When I have the new one made . . . it's going to be made so it will look nice 20 years from now.

I was hoping that someone else would have some more original pictures of Blazer, Bursurban or Truck engines from magazines back in 69-72 to help narrow this down . . . ANYONE ?

Compared to the "8 350" decal, your "Invader 307" looks to be about an inch shorter.

But, it's still longer then the "350" decal.

Looks like there was never any sticker on the driver's side, but here's a different question for you... I noticed some writing on the firewall on the driver's side - didn't think much of it until I read something you wrote about similar marks indicating build location, build number, etc. So now I'm wondering... where did you get that info?

And a question for anyone - have you see Invader 307 valve cover decals for sale anywhere? I've seen 350, but not 307 (plus they're a different color)

That BLK ( on your zoomed-in picture below ) could have been put on there to indicate that it was going to have black interior ( or something else was going to be black ) The 95 is probably the job number. Most I've seen are three digit though. You can do a search on this site for other "factory markings" and see the same things I've seen.
