motor won't crank over now

I was working on my cousin 72 chevy truck ,at first it wasn't getting gas from the tank,so I pulled the gasoline off going to the tank and put a gas can to get gas, then the motor stopped cranking over.I ran news wires just like the digram that was showed on here .purple went to the starter, light purple/orange change to the yellow wire,so yellow went to dist, and the other yellow went to the other side of the starter. I put a new ignition switch in it but i am not getting any power to the purple wire going to the starter .could it be the fuse panel ? lmk thanks

check the neutral safety switch. If an auto trans, it is in park or neutral? Don't laugh, I've done it.

Re: motor won't crank over now

The ignition switch gets its power from the fuse block. I bet you’ve got a dirty or corroded contact in there. I dealt with this on my truck. I don’t remember the specifics but I lost my ignition switch, backup lights and a few others. My K20 is a 4 speed and doesn’t have a neutral safety switch.
