Another Lmc Nightmare

guys i asked on this forum a week or so ago how good lmc truck was .well i found out .they have this service where if you order a $1000.00 worth of parts the shipping is free . man i decided to test them out before i did .i ordered 300.00 worth of parts ,sure enough it took them 5 days to even ship ,but then get this i called to get a tracking number and i was given one .i go to ups site to track and find out that my parts are being shipped to someone else . ok i get back on the phone to lmc and tell them my parts are being shipped to (i know his name ) so he is probably going to get my parts .they agree ,but there is nothing they can do . so now i have to wait for this person to get the parts and then ,maybe he will call them or not . then they will do something . man they really do suck !!!!!!!! . i need these parts really bad . all they will say is i'm sorry .i don't want to here i'm sorry i want to here that my parts will be reshipped asap and on a faster timeline than ground . guess they have my money and don't care . one thing about it is at least i didn't spend a 1000 dollars . sooner or later they will realize that they don't have good customer service and that is the main part of any business . I'M PISSED .THE ONLY WAY TO GET THEM TO DO BETTER IS FOR IT TO BE ADVERTISED THAT THEY SUCK ,SOME OF THE FORUM LEADERS AND PEOPLE WHO BUY PARTS A LOT NEED TO COMPLAIN TO THEM ,THEY'LL GET THE MESSAGE .

I've ordered from them about 10 times in the last three years, it's never happened to me. Sorry for your misfortune!

I've also ordered from them on numerous occasions and have been more than pleased. But when something goes bad, it has to happen to someone. Hopefully you can get it resolved.

Re: Another Lmc Nightmare

I have never ordered from LMC, only from board vendors, and I have always been 100% pleased.
I have ordered from GMC Pauls a few times, not only do they get my orders right, but if something was messed up I know I could call Les or Paul and they would fix it immediately. They are great guys.
I have no doubt that the rest of the board vendors are stand up people too.

Re: Another Lmc Nightmare

I have also ordered from them on several occassions, including recently with no problems. Shipping is a little slow, but unfortunately that's becoming the norm with some of these companies where they only ship on certain days. anyway, sorry for your problem and hope you have better luck next time.

Re: Another Lmc Nightmare

not that these guys are shipping slow ,but they are making big mistakes ,which is human ,but be willing to correct the mistakes . they keep putting me off .telling me to call ups and see if they can do something ,well i think lmc should call ups .they should at least call the other person that's probably gonna get my parts and tell him what's going on .he will also be pissed .i hope for goodness sake the other person is a member of this forum and comes here to vent his frustrations also . i know the name and have been trying to track him down to let him know .

Re: Another Lmc Nightmare

I used to live in Lenexa, KS near their warehouse, and while we were building my first truck we stopped in and thought what a great find...until we tried to get some customer service. It was really weird, there wasn't a single person in the place that knew 67-72's and it looked like a museum full of truck parts mixed with British parts. Strange. Never went back or ordered from them. Prices too high anyways. Chevy Duty was in the area, but there's a better one -Manes Truck Parts in Raytown, MO. Ron Manes will hook you up.

Re: Another Lmc Nightmare

Whether or not there service is good or bad, OR someone will have a good
story and a bad one, this is how things work for large companies like LMC

What I have trouble understanding, and YES I ordered from them BEFORE I
found this board, is why would you? As a member of this board you get a lil
bit of discount with the board vendors, some more than others, and they're
prices already smoke LMC anyways, I have saved over $800 to date, I just
added up the diff in price because I keep all my receipts for insurance. Why
on earth would someone NOT want to take advantage of that ? ? ? JMHO

Their parent company is Victoria British, and i have to deal with them alot when getting parts for my previous MGB, and my RX-7 as there is no real alternative. I have had alot of problems, and because of that i will not buy from their LMC catalog.

I may not have a choice when it comes to my MG, or My RX-7, but i damn sure have a choice when it comes to my truck.

Re: Another Lmc Nightmare

Depends on the parts for the RX-7, but there's quite a few places to get pieces and parts. Give me a PM and I'll try and find my links from when I had my '84 GS.

Oh, and I ordered from LMC and had no problems. Mind you, all I got from them was a starter solenoid (that's still sitting on top of the clothes washer waiting on me installing it).

Re: Another Lmc Nightmare

I have ordered a fair amount of stuff for my '72 Jimmy from LMC (That was before I learned about this board and vendors that support it). I have had very good luck with LMC, yes their prices are high (but I have gotten a ton of use from their catalog - good illustrations). I always order online. I can check the part ids and the addresses. To date I have had tremendous luck with them.

Re: Another Lmc Nightmare

I have an idea here guys. Why doesn't somebody e-mail the link to this page directly to LMC Truck and title it Customer Service. That way someone there is sure to look at it. If they know that they are being bad mouthed by their customers and that the word about their bad customer service is spreading via the internet on the truck sites, and that more and more people are finding out about them, they will be a little bit more inclined to do something about this mess.

I agree totally that THEY created this mess, and THEY should be the one to fix it. It's not your mistake that they sent your parts to someone else and you shouldn't have to pay for it.

I have ordered parts from them in the past, but never more than $300 worth at one time and I never had a problem, but it could happen the next time that I order something so many thanks for the heads up. I most usually buy from Chevy Duty, now called Classic Parts Of America.

I went up to K.C. a couple of years ago and went to what then was Chevy Duty on a Saturday after I had already been over to LMC Truck and found that LMC Truck was closed. Chevy Duty was open for business and were a great bunch of people to buy parts from.

I wanted to buy a billet grille for my 86 from LMC but since they weren't open I didn't get it. LMC was cheaper in the catalog than Chevy Duty. The salesman at Chevy Duty asked if there was anything else that I wanted when he got the last of my parts brought up front. I told him that I wanted a billet grille that I saw in both the LMC and Chevy Duty catalog but that they weren't open over at LMC and that Chevy Duty's grille was higher in price so I'd just wait until I came back to K.C. the next time to get one when LMC was open. Chevy Duty not only met LMC's price, but they beat it by $20. couldn't say no to a deal like that!

Just F.Y.I. I have visited both of these businesses in person and know what you mean about the funky looking showroom at LMC. Classic Parts Of America has one killer showroom! They had 3 very cool trucks on display as well as a lot of parts. It was clean and the salesmen were very knowledeable and professional. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them any time. I have ordered from them online, on the phone, and bought from them in person. No complaints here!

LMC has some work to do to if they want to stay in the truck parts business. Maybe they should just give up selling truck parts and just sell parts for those little foreign cars! ...Joe

Re: Another Lmc Nightmare

I have ordered from them before for ford trucks, chevy trucks and from victoria british for 280's, mg's, and others. I have had a few hicups with them. but eventually everything was worked out. I always paid with a business CC so I wasnt worried about losing anything. hope you can work this out sucks not having what you need when you need it especially when it is already paid for.
always follow up the phone call with an email and write down names and use them it helps.

I can't or don't understand how they could have had someones elses shipping address of someone you know. Every place I have ordered from reads back your shipping address before the call is over.

Re: Another Lmc Nightmare

I thought of a couple of other options that you may want to try if all else fails. First turn them in to the Better Business Bureau. If that doesn't get anything done about it then complain to the Kansas State Attorney General's Office. If you make enough trouble for them they will have to respond and fix this. ...Joe

Re: Another Lmc Nightmare

The great thing about LMC or Victoria British is that you can save a crap load of money in shipping charges by picking up in person if your in the KC area. They may be a little higher in price but I save the truck freight from having something shipped and cost of panel repairs due to UPS by just grabbing the parts myself and dont have to wait for them to come in. Plus if you have the old parts in hand it makes it easy to make sure either you or they didn't give out the wrong part info.

If anyone has a better location for new parts on the Kansas side of KC let me know I will try them if the pricing is better.
