Build Thread - Citrix's 1986 Chevy pickup

Bought this off my dad, who bought it from an old farmer, was sitting for 8 years before my dad bought it.... there is ALOT to come...

Currently in the process of swapping out the transmission and engine....

The transmission that was in there was a turbo 350... but we ran into a little problem with it... you will see in the preceeding pictures....

PICS ARE BELOW THANKS FOR RESIZE!!!

Re: Build Thread - Citrix's 1986 Chevy pickup

You could probably get that case welded on your transmission.

Also, you might wanna have this moved to the 73-87 section. Just a thought.....

Re: Build Thread - Citrix's 1986 Chevy pickup

I agree with Joe I would move it over to the 73-87 Projects, and builds section. PM N2TRUX, and he can do it for ya. Also may want to resize the pics. The dial up guys will hate you.

Re: Build Thread - Citrix's 1986 Chevy pickup

I wish i could have good news.... as i see it, we now have to go through and replace all of the top end seals...

While running it, either a cracked head or a bad head gasket showed its ugly face.

Right now i did figure out that the heads are definately 305 heads which means that if they are cracked i have a good set on the old 305 i have... Although i would like to go with vortec heads....

The project is back on hold though because i have to head out of state for about 2 weeks....

Ill try to keep you all updated with any further progress...

Re: Build Thread - Citrix's 1986 Chevy pickup

Well that bites!!!
How did the problem show up?
Did you get water in the oil?
I hope it's just gaskets, but some vortecs would be sweet!

Re: Build Thread - Citrix's 1986 Chevy pickup

nope, it was running, then we started to see anti-freeze coming out of the header, turns out cylinder 4 was filled to the brim...... took out the spark plug and it just poured out...

i dunno i might just start off from scratch with this block...

To be honest it has been nothing but a pain >.<

Re: Build Thread - Citrix's 1986 Chevy pickup

Yeah, that sucks
when I fired it on the stand, it was dry.
And I only ran it for a very short time, but it sounded healthy.
I was just worried about it running and no knocks or noise.
