Question 71 K-10 ?

The rear axle on my 71 K-10 failed. It has a 3.07 gear. I would very much like to change to a higher ratio such as 3.42--3.55, but not as high as 3.73s. It seems the only ring and pinions available are 3.07 or 3.73s. The front end is dana44 and the rear is corporate 12 bolt. I am going to go back with a auburn posi unit in the rear. Does any one have any input on how to find a matched set of gears for the front and rear (already have tried most aftermarket sources) or is there other diffs from other years that may work with little modifications.

The 3.73's are more common and would work well for you. You could actually go to maybe a 32 or 33 inch tire with 3.73's.
