Pics of my '67 long step

I can't get very good pictures of it 'til I roll it out of the garage, but here's what I can get so far. Nothin' like a rattle can primer job in the garage - I did take everything down to metal first
Will post the before & after pics once I get it fully primered.

Talking cool

I just love those long stepsides. i want to put a long step on my 3/4 ton '72. Many think they are ugly. Me, I find beauty in the odd. (My wife is the exception)

Toy: I've seen a lot of trucks that used to be long steps, but were shortened or had a fleet put on 'em. I haven't seen more than a half a dozen long steps, but I know more are out there. Still haven't seen more than 1 or 2 that were fixed up.

Blue: That bumper is a dealer installed option that was designed for farmers and such. Heavy steel and skid plate steps. It's almost identical to the one that I had on my '54 long step and they were from opposite ends of the country so I know there is more out there.

I used to really hate longsteps, but now they have kinda grown on me. I saw a really sweet one the other day, it was about a '69 C/10 longstep, look like it was restored, it had black paint, wide wheels in the back, and a 350 under the hood. It looked just as good, if not better than a short step.

I've got one too. Seeing your pic reminded me of mine when I got it in 1988 -- mine may have been worse though -- no working 1st & reverse gears, horrible paint, ugly bumpers, rusty trashy interior (holes in floor & other places), broken seat . . . Now it needs a second overhawl and I'm slowly getting to it and doing some dream engine work too (keepin the 6). Will try to scan a few pics for y'all. These long trucks are lots of fun and great for hayrides and such. I think I had 19 people in the back once!

Glad to see others who like these rare beauties. Can't wait to see your finished product. Please post the pics. Thanx.

Mike

Doesn't have much for goodies: 250 straight 6, 4 spd, w/ no power anything. Only plans so far is to stop the rust, primer it and get it back on the road. We'll see where we go after that.

I am a longsteper to, I especially like the looks of one with the small window cab, and I would love to find one of those wraparound rear bumpers, I know mine came with one because I have the holes in the fenders and the outline of it is still there but the bumper is long gone.

Blazerman the bumper looks about the same except the center section , the width of the tailgate is recessed in about 4" , alowing the tailgate hang straight down. it's to dark to take a photo tonight , I'll Post it tomorrow night.

Wow, I'm late chiming in on this one. Gotta love them longsteps! "Beauty in the odd" --well said. The fact that they're a thing of the past (as well as true stepsides) is why I like them, too.
