Sice I don't have a hoist, I hoped my stand would reach the engine in the truck, so I removed the gate, and lined them up....nope.

Here's the winner, jack it up, let the air out the tires, then comes the cussing.

Dad offered to help...look at his clothes, do you REALLY think he'll get his hands on the engine?

Andy, when I took the yellow engine from Jeff out of the back of my 69, I just put the stand on it and pulled on the engine till the engine and stand were on the ground. But that's not really safe.......

71402BB, Yes, a Caddilac 425, out of a 78-ish Eldarodo. It is going into the '70 one ton Longhorn. Torque rules.
Randy, done. :P
Race, I thought about that, but since the engine is at or a little over the stands limit, and it was such a drop, I figured I'd better play it safe.

78-ish Eldarodo....if it was late 60's, it'd be more likely a 472, or best, a 500.

I used to race oldsmobiles back in the 60s, I have always respected the great torque olds and caddy have. That thing will be a stump puller

I would like to, and Ionless I get some info saying not to, I plan on it in the future. But for now, I'll have to use the Pontiac TH350 that is in the Longhorn right now. I'm going to try and get some info on taking the guts out of my 20,000 mil old Chevy TH350, and swapping them into the Pontiac case and vise versa, but I'll probably just end up biting the bullit and crossing my fingers on the Pontiac unit.
But one day, she'll have an overdrive in it.

Rock-n-Roll!!
Have a blast with it. Keep us updated on the swap.
Now that I already have my 500, I read that the 425 is actually a snappier motor, and the only time you'd ever miss the extra 75 cubes is towing uphill. Oh, well, I guess its nice just for braggin rights on 454's.

No cash for a rebilild, I'll be lucky to get to chainge out all the gaskets before it goes in. The plan is to reseal and inspect it while it is open, then slap it in the truck with a fresh dark blue paint job on it. Get an adapter and put my eldebrock 600 on there and have fun for now. I want a performer intake desperatly, but the $250 price tag is kinda steep. Hmmmm... maybe i can paint the intake alluminum..that'll make it faster huh?
