Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone has found an easy solution to running an A/C compressor with headers. I would like to use the stock style compressor on my 350 with Sanderson headers. Don't know if they make special brackets, or if you just modify existing exhaust maninfold bracket to fit around headers...

You should check with Sanderson, my Hookers came with a bracket piece for A/C

I aways used longer grade 8 bolts and heavy wall pipe to space the brackets out to where they would be if they were mounted on the exhaust manifold. This trick will not work with all headers.

It seems like I remember LMC showing the bracket with their headman headers. I know its not an option with you guys, but I avoided it all together when I put Corvette accessory brackets and components on my truck.

John,

Here is what I did and it works well.

First if you look at the stock a/c bracket where it mounts on the old exh. manifold, I cut off the back half so that it clears the header tube. The bracket bolted to the front 2 manifold bolts, now only the front bolt.

Next I took a 1/2 bolt 3-3.5" long and had the first 3/4" turned down to 3/8" and threaded (so it will screw in to the head as a header bolt).

Next, using this bolt as the front header bolt (you may want to put a 3/8 washer on it) , I used two 1/2" nuts (on the larger threaded part of the bolt) to hold the a/c bracket in place, by having one in front & one behind the bracket.

All the other stock brackets were used, and this has worked well for me for several years. Sorry I don't have any pictures.....

When I put headers on my truck, I did as mentioned above, using a short piece of pipe and a longer bolt to put the bracket at the correct position, the a/c thinks nothing has changed.
