Re: My 1967 Build (Finally)

Etch primer laid down, went on pretty good, I used the SEM acid etch in an aerosol can, and Id say it seems like good stuff. I am going to try my hand at the epoxy Raptor two part before putting down the final liner.

Sunday was the day, tinted the Raptor liner and put it down in two decent coats. Not sure what PSI this was at, but the texture was pretty good.

Final product. If anyone needs to know, two bottles of Raptor liner cover a 67-72 floor perfectly, with some left over.

Re: My 1967 Build (Finally)

I have to give the Raptor liner about a week to fully cure, so in the mean time I'm trying to get this roof skin sorted out and see if its worth using. I got it for a great deal, even considering its dents, so Im currently trying to work those dents out before I replace it, if I decide to. Reason being, my inner roof has a few small holes needing fixed, and I imagine theres more in there.

Re: My 1967 Build (Finally)

Working on odds and ends while I have the cab on its back, for whatever reason one of the previous owners of the truck decided to primer the inner roof skin and back wall. With a little 800 and 1000 Ive cut some down to see if the original color is still there - it is. They burned through some of it when sanding to prime, so itll be 'patina'd' once all the gray primer is gone. I sure have my work cut out for me.

What process did you use to tint the Raptor liner?

Re: My 1967 Build (Finally)

I went to a local paint supply house and had them match the color of the truck, and they sell Raptor kits as well, told them it was for a Raptor tint so they mixed accordingly.

They recommend to add by weight, but since Im not looking for a crazy match, I just added 3.5oz, and the hardener was added with the kits supplied measuring cup.

Bench seat time. Getting a jump on costly interior stuff so it doesnt smack me in the face when it comes time to get it together. Bench needed some areas repaired.

Re: My 1967 Build (Finally)

Finished up the new 'block off' plate for the firewall. I basically cut the face off, glassed a flat sheet to be graphed in, and then took the box and cut down the width, as you can see in the pics. I took apart the blower motor and cut the big nose off it, and graphed it back in to look like a block off plate.

Re: My 1967 Build (Finally)

Ordered a bench seat cover from Distinctive Industries through CJPonyParts last night... we will see how it works out soon hopefully! Waiting on new seat springs and foam still, should have some pictures of how it works out by December.

Vintage Air is on order through Laid Back Recreations

Should have it around January or so, I'll do like N2Billet did an run a bulkhead through the face of the box.

Final pics of it together.. suuuupper glossy... probably gonna put this one outside in the sun for a few days or weeks and let it age, or hit it with some scotchbrite and matte clear.

Re: My 1967 Build (Finally)

Learned some stuff this weekend. Found out that there are no current bench seat upholstery kits that fit my style bench seat - my luck . So I've decided to not compromise and just have a local shop do the upholstery I want and be happier in the end. So I cleaned up the bench seat and shot some black paint after fixing some spot weld areas that had broken and repaired some other areas. Installed the Full Custom Fab drop brackets and added the measurements.

Re: My 1967 Build (Finally)

Well, I did the thing, cut the roof skin off. Talk about nervous to see what is below. But it wasnt as bad as I thought, I expected much worse. Repaired one of the front roof holes, and honestly the metal is still pretty strong. I still have some small pin holes to fix.

Re: My 1967 Build (Finally)

Patch came out pretty well, still need to get it fully massaged in place, but I also need to make a decision on the rest of the pinch weld seam at the windshield.
