So what are the Suburban Rear Floor Options ...

Is Marine ply wood the only thing everyone has been using?
Anyone use steel bed sections?

I am raising my floor but was wondering if others have had to replace the rear wood.

I seem to remember a build thread were someone was using a late model frame/drivetrain and integrated the metal floor into the early Suburban.

It's all I got

When I replaced mine I used a product called Gatorboard. It was slightly cheaper than marine plywood, but it may have been a one time local deal.
Here is a link to my repair thread. The floor replacement starts about mid page and goes on for several pages.

jeeze thats a lot of work for a floor lol..came out nice though. i plan on just welding a simple square tubing frame, then bolting some 1x4 or 1x6 long ways. nothing crazy, id like to have it easily removeable to access my air suspension in case anything comes up.

I opted to tear out the plywood and weld in a steel floor ;-)

I am going with king starboard ST, its boat decking (HDPE plastic)

Polishspy - I know the plastic board is basically impervious to rot, etc... and is a good platform to walk across, but how well do you think that plastic will hold up to the seatbelt mounts and more importantly the floor mounts??

I think it will hold up just as well as the plywood, Its tough stuff and things are mounted to it on boats in several applications.

how noisy is it when the wood floor is in, thinking of wood floor for my blazer as the metal floor is shot and I raised the floor 3 inches with sq. tubing but thinking it would noisy with the exhaust

It does resonate as you would expect, but either way it will be covered by Lizard Skin this time

2nd row seat will be all I was installing anyway. And I have seen some nice "boat decks" on trucks but it looks too outdoorsy for the back of a Burb my opinion of course

Plywood by its construction using layers of material with the grains running at approximately 90 degrees from each other and separated by films of glue are resistant to resonance. More resistant than steel would be.
To get the maximum resistance to resonance using a product like MDF would be best. MDF is used in speaker enclosures for just that reason.

Sorry but ... Is it one piece, what is the thickness and density, how easy is it to work with, custom cut or can you DIY cut?

I am planning on raising and mini tubbing the rear section from the 2nd row seats back.

The starboard comes in various sizes, but normally standard 4x8' sheet and 3/4" thick.

I did the job with normal wood working tools with no issues.
