Using a cable works . This is way more than you need but it will work . $7.99

Re: bench adjustment rod HELP?

My seat adjustment rod was busted also. I bought the cable replacement from LMC. Worked out well enough. The rod had been held on with vice grips for who knows how long and it rubbed/rounded the lip down that holds it, and the cable for that matter, in place. A hose clamp slid over and holding it (even if just barely) tight to the post made short work of the problem so it doesn’t slip off. I like that I was able to adjust the length of the cable on the one end, but you could just as easily make your own like was already mentioned. The last picture doesn’t show the adjustable end of the cable, but gives an idea as to what it looks like.

Re: bench adjustment rod HELP?

This is the piece that would originally have been where you installed the hose clamp, although the hose clamp is a resourceful solution.
