BRING IT ON BABY!! Ole Paul and the wheelie popper are ready! (for another head injury). J/K I'll wear a helmet this time and only break my nose. And dirt doesn't taste that bad. I ate it as a kid. Just don't land where the dogs poop.

Re: Gas Prices?

I felt good when I put $50 in the tank @ $3.35, until I saw the gauge only went from 1/4 to 1/2 full. Real quick math, about 3 gallons per $10 times five equals not quite 15 gallons. Big whoop!. That's a bit better than 1/3 tank (41 gal). I feel better than I did at higher prices but I'd feel better at $50 = 1/2 tank. Is anybody out there listening?????

No one that can do anything about it is listening. They're too busy picking your pocket.

It's annoying how when there's a "crisis' the prices go up, but when the crisis is over they never go back down.

50 bucks for 1/4 tank isn't that bad these days. I paid triple that in my dually. I've got to get my S10 4 banger beater running.

And that relates now to about everything we have to buy this time around. Even a two year old can say, "Why I remember back when xxx cost half as much" or whatever amount. Yes, things will always be going up. But I remember, not so long ago, when 3% inflation was a big deal. I'm seeing 30-50% all over the place!! I like to buy (eat) frozen Red Robin steak fries but my store hasn't been having them this whole year. I noticed another store, with higher prices (Safeway), had them. Yeah, they sure do for about $7! I think that's about $3 more than my last purchase. I think I used to buy them on sale for $3 last year! The store I use is committed to offering better prices and I have noticed a lot of foods they no longer carry that I believe is for that reason. Safeway always sold their frozen peach slices for a dollar more than Food Lion. Now Food Lion hasn't been having them at all, while Safeway never skipped a beat... while bringing a pound bag up from $3.99 to $5.99. Food Lion had them a few times during the season that bumped up a dollar to Safeway's old price. Then none, and a week or so they had some brand I never heard of (same price) out of Canada grown in Greece! Food Lion is from NC right where our peaches come from.

Re: Gas Prices?

$2.99 here for the last two days. Diesel is down too, quite a bit.
It had been holding steady at just under $6 (5.95-5.99). Yesterday I saw it at $5.39, that's a huge drop.

Re: Gas Prices?

Down to $2.69 for 87.
At one of our Casey's they have E15 at $2.60 and E85 at $2.00. I have 3 vehicles that can burn E85 but I have never tried it. But that price sure is attractive.

Wait. I'm just waking up to E85 vs E15. Is there an 85% ethanol fuel?

Re: Gas Prices?

While running some errands this morning noticed 87 octane corn squeezins' was at $2.75 a gallon. Dare we even begin to dream of gas below $2.00 again?
If that happened I would start to believe in Santa Claus again for sure,

Re: Gas Prices?

I believe in Santa Claus because he was me for many Christmases. But I don't believe in seeing prices go below $2 per gallon.

Our $3.35 places are at $3.29 since yesterday. If it did drop to below $2 around here it's going to take till this time next year dropping a nickel at a time as it's been doing.

Golly day. So a fuel can be almost entirely ethanol yet somehow remain in the same price range of fossil fuel. Wasn't there supposed to be some kind of benefit to this? Your diesel is cheaper than ours is. Ours is $2 more than regular gas @ $5.29 as of today.

I don't want to jinx things, but when things were normal we would expect to see diesel going up this time of year. The excuse used was fuel oil season. I remember before they came up with that one. It's a good thing all this is regulated. Pretty simple regulation. It mandates that oil companies can't just raise prices to increase profits. No sir, that's a big no-no. The law dictates "Just make up an excuse. Any excuse, or we (the gov't) are going to take some of that profit for ourselves".

I believe I saw $2.57 Saturday.
Ah, and here is the next reason for prices to rise, again. Keystone pipeline leak in Kansas last week. And this coming 2 weeks before Christmas..

I'm still seeing diesel go down. In some cases dropping at a better rate than gas. Most places are about $2 a gallon difference, but the one cheaper place is more like $1.25-$1.50 difference. This is usually when diesel, whenever it was more recently normal (but not the case even farther back), goes up due to heating oil demand (so we've been told) and winter blend (so we've been told). And currently we are in a diesel shortage, right? Yet price is going down in spite of those formerly used excuses. It sure seems like a game to me. One where the rules get changed to suit. Fuel prices are inflated (still) enough to offset the routine excuses to raise we normally see.

My El Cheapo place was $3.13 and the higher ones are $3.29 for ethanol

But diesel stocks are up: https://www.eia.gov/dnav/pet/pet_sto..._dcu_nus_w.htm

And weekly prices do seem to fluctuate with supply: https://www.eia.gov/dnav/pet/PET_PRI...TE_DPGAL_W.htm
