i drove past a guy cruising on an old Farmall yesterday. It had a lot of patina on it but it looked complete and it was still kicking. If it had a for sale sign on it I would have slammed on my brakes. I've been jonesing for an old tractor. I missed out on the last one that was for sale. Somebody moved faster than I did.

I would like to get it professionally restored and take it around to parades & car shows, but if we did spend the money on it, we have nowhere enclosed where we could keep it. I'm not gonna drop a load of money on it, only to have it decline again under that covered shed it's under now.

My son just graduated with his Engineering Degree and accepted a pretty good job locally. He's talking about getting married to his little sweety and building a new house on our farm and building a big covered drive thru barn. If he pulls the trigger on that, I'll probably pull the trigger on getting the Cub restored.

There are some absolutely spotless ones on the web! Pretty shiny red little babies.

Re: Other vintage

On the subject of old tractors, my dad and I finally figured out what his old John Deere is. He bought it used, many years ago, but the id plate was missing. We thought it was a regular farm tractor because of the green paint, but finally found out that it's a mid to late 60s John Deere 400 industrial tractor. The farm tractor variant is the 2020 of the same vintage. The yellow was the original color. It's got electrical issues, so hasn't been running in awhile. Dad and I plan to go get it from the farm some time soon and get it going again.

Storage is always a problem. At least for me. My F450 and my hearse wont even fit in a garage. I've been kicking around the idea of putting up a barn at my house. I have the room. But I'd have to get the lot graded, plumbed, and power run out to it, then pour concrete and have the building built. It starts to overwhelm me. It seems like a lot of work and money, so I put it off.

The Farmall I missed out on was all restored. It was red and the guy only wanted 3K for it which I thought was a good deal. But he wanted cash. No deposits. First come first serve. By the time I got the cash it was sold.

My girlfriend says my spare garage, I mean master bedroom, you know, which has my 71 bench seat and that needs beside tables. She's a California gal, contemporary, and at first couldn't understand why I'd pay more for old when everyday box store stuff would be $50 cheaper

To me they're more like chair tables, but she likes them, so pulled the trigger at $180 each. Too much? Nah. Ethan Allen maple are a personal favorite, I still have a table & matching lamp from a place my parents had in the 60s.

Looks like a chaible. A person could get stumped figuring out how to sit at that table

Those are cool. Look to be in like new condition. I only know about old, don't know about furniture brands. I did buy a recliner from Ethan Allen when I was married and it was a nicely made piece. I have some maple dressers I'd guess they are from the '60s. I only buy solid wood furniture, cabinets, etc. A piece of furniture should outlast it's owners

Ethan Allen doesn't come cheap. It's going to cost more but it's way better than that junk that you have to screw together and falls apart in a year. Those are cool tables and you know they will last.

Seeing that Massey Ferguson sitting there:

I drug mine out of a field, where it had been sitting for a while.

The previous owner towed me home with his Massey.

I don't know the names either, only enough to know these old maple pieces were "all" made by Ethan Allen, though they went by a different name before 1960ish

Chaible...........Sit near tables, better?

Here's the beauty of old stuff, besides the obvious. I could have bought these from Amazon for $17 cheaper each https://www.amazon.com/VECELO-Nights...NrPXRydWU&th=1

Re: Other vintage

I just picked up this porcelain metal sign. It's dated 1955.

It reminds me of my ex wife.

That's a cool sign, but I seriously doubt it's from 1955. Not to rain on your parade, but I don't think it's an authentic Bardahl ad. Like I said, cool sign. Cool vintage style sign for sure

It might be a reproduction, but if it is it's an old one. It shows real age, not some fake patina. It's real heavy and has a porcelain finish. Who knows? I don't really care one way or another. I like it.

Now I've just got to figure out where to hang it. I'm running out of wall space.

Another one. This one was HEAVY! It took two guys to hang it. Unfortunately one of them was me.

Re: Other vintage

How about vintage stereo? Here's my mid-60's set up.

I'm in the process of replicating my dad's stereo of my youth. It consists of a Scott 299-C and Garrard Lab-80 turntable. I have a Voice of music tuner that I've been working on that will go with it at some point. I've recapped the amp and have it sounding pretty sweet.

I also have a fondness for mid-late 70's Yamaha equipment. I have a CR-2020 SS monster receiver. I also love the "New England" sound acoustic suspension speakers and have a couple of pairs of Acoustic Research speakers from the '70's.

I've recently been acquiring test equipment for aligning tuners and troubleshooting gear. I gotta have something to do when my retirement starts in a year or so!

That's cool. It reminds me of my younger days. I had a Kenwood receiver and two huge speakers. I forget what those were, but they were LOUD! They'd rattle the windows and make records skip from halfway across the room. They even cracked a window once. Ahh, the good ole days.

My neighbors loved me.

Funny when you think vintage what does that encompass? I have this album in my shop, seems like yesterday but it came out 44 years ago.

"Uncle Ray's' sounds like barbecue sauce.

It's funny. I had an uncle named Ray. And he was a little creepy.

I can't believe that Steve Martin album is 44 years old. I bought that album when it came out. God I'm old.

Re: Other vintage

I just want to know who is speeding time up! Would you please stop it?? Yeah, I'm on to you alright. I have proof. I can remember when 10 years was a long long time. Used to be a whole decade! I think you have it to where a decade feels like about 2-3 years. This feeling can't be denied. It's in my bones!

Re: Other vintage

I'll give you $10,000 for it right now! I'd really like to learn how to build a house for $3,500!
