Re: Project "49 No Buck$"

1950, thanks for bringing this one up on the list. I hadn't seen it before. Looks like Brad is still active in things and been on the site fairly recently. There are a lot of unfinished story threads though, haha. Busy guy with cool stuff going on and left us with a couple of cliffhangers. I wonder if he still goes to billetproof. Going to see if I can make it down there this year.

Re: Project "49 No Buck$"

Brad is very busy. One of the nicest guys you’ll ever talk to. He does a show and podcast called Stories in Steel. It is really good and really aimed at the gear head. Brads truck is a true stand out on here.

Re: Project "49 No Buck$"

Hey, I'm back!! As you all know, stuff in life happens and we move on to other projects and that includes me. I was done with the truck for awhile, working on the streamliner, doing the Round Six Podcast (www.roundsixpod.com) and even decided to try developing a TV show. History and Discovery didn't share my vision (I actually got my feets in those doors!) because they wanted the drama of Jerry Springer with the poorly written script of ANY "reality" series out there. I want to film more episodes of "Stories N' Steel" (on YouTube at the moment) and even do more podcasts but every bit of it has been on us. We haven't made a dime and have done every bit of it (with some help from Roger Hickey of Trailer tug) out of our own pockets! I decided instead of being frustrated, I needed to get my head back in the game! I've done some stuff to truck (right?!) and now I'm back hot and heavy on the Streamliner. I've taken photos of truck stuff I've done, now I just need to load them in Photobucket and write the descriptions. Stay tuned for more STUFF!

Re: Project "49 No Buck$"

So glad to see you back at it. Agree with you 100%... life happens and life is what you make it. Sorry about the unseccessful trials with "HOLLYWOOD", but best live life knowing you tried than living life with the regret and thought of "what if".
Good things happen to good people... something great is headed your way.
Excited to see what you 've done to the truck and what other surprises you come up with.
Have to admit, it was you who inspired me to start on my truck, I still go back and read and study some of your work when Im stuck on how I need to move forward with mine.

Re: Project "49 No Buck$"

An update I did recently that I should've done years ago. After going through two sets of Chinese latches, I decided to rethink how I was doing my truck and do it right. After purchasing a set of Altman latches and checking out the directions, I decided do a little research and see if there was an easier way. I was fortunate enough to stumble on a great how-to done by my friend Russ Petty! Here's a link to how he did his install https://talk.classicparts.com/thread...tch-kit.12010/
and it worked perfectly. After everything was fitted, I sandblasted the plates and painted them brown. No more slamming doors and a great investment worth every penny!

Looks great. Yes, I agree this latch kit is the best. I wouldn't screw around with any other latches...

Re: Project "49 No Buck$"

after seeing this post, I went out in the garage & found I have a set of these latches waiting to be installed. The article Brad posted makes the job look quite simple. But my question is, can you lock the doors from inside using the interior handles like original???

Re: Project "49 No Buck$"

Good morning! Made a little 2500 mile drive in the truck a couple weeks ago. Filming a new project and more episodes of Stories N' Steel! Here was my first gas stop in Las Vegas on my way to Twin Falls, Idaho. Truck ran great and averaged 16-18mpg with the AC cranked up! I still have fun driving this beast!

Re: Project "49 No Buck$"

Glad to see it still being driven. 2,500 mile trip WOW. What was the cause for the switched up front wheels?

Re: Project "49 No Buck$"

I changed both the front and back wheels. The fronts are Real Rodders 15x5" based on Halibrand's funny car (spindle mount originally) wheels. The rears are 16x10" ETIII's. The fronts Alex found for me because they're next to impossible finding and the backs are some of my all time favorites!

Re: Project "49 No Buck$"

Not sure if anyone on here has seen a show I've been working on called Stories N' Steel and if you haven't, you might want to check it out. I haven't put out any episodes in awhile because of things going on in my life, but I'm back at it and will have new episodes out shortly! In a passing comment, I was told I should put a video together about the truck build. I'm taking notes and working on a game plan on how to take build pics and videos along with doing a voiceover of the entire build. Could be interesting...
