Size: 51.8 KB engine compartment is close to completion. I am going to take the serpentine belt of and detail all the parts in front. Today working on paint prep of the cab, hopefully by Saturday it is ready to paint. next week will be interior work, steering column needs to be modified because it is 4 inches to long, got to figure that out, change glass and weather strip on passenger door, ebrake, speedo modifications, heat and ac modifications.
lots to do. Doing good on the budget for this build, 2000 is it. 500 for the 54, 700 for the 93, and 200 for the radiator. Spent 200 hundred for paint supplies. The bed I am sure will eat up the rest of the budget.

Re: My 54 GMC Build

It's coming out great! Especially with that budget. Can you give me more details on the brake booster/mc and your pedal setup.

master cylinder and booster are from the silverado. I cut the pedal hangar from the donor truck too. I cut the firewall out of the silverado and then attached panel sections of it to the original fire wall where I needed to attach late model parts

Man I love these kinds of projects. Using stuff you have, making what you don't. Anyone who has a ton of money can throw the checkbook around and get results. This takes skill and thought. Can't wait to see this done!

Re: My 54 GMC Build

Looking good man.

BTW I heard you mention (in another thread) you were thinking about buying a tig welder. I love my miller diversion 180. It does AC/DC welding, runs on 110 and 220, comes with a foot pedal and a torch wheel, weights in under 50 pounds, and can handle anything you will need done on a car.

Re: My 54 GMC Build

Your welcome man. You may be able to find a nice use tig also. But remember you may have to give up size. The older tig machines are transformer machines and they are heavy but last forever basically. The newer machines are inverters and that is the reason for the compact size. If size is not an issue you may be able to find a nice used transformer machine cheaper than the diversion. Size was a issue for me I work in a 2 car garage. I paid 1600 for my Miller Diversion 180. I'm sure you could find a older machine much cheaper.

By the way, once you tig body panels man you will never go back.lol But you will always have use for you mig. I find I love them both and the both have their uses.
