Great work. I usually don't post up but browsing your pics and see a Dana 60...you got my attention. Nice to see an appropriate axle for a build like this.

Re: slammed 57

Movin foward here, gettin some work done on the fire wall...Almost there!

Iam mounting the battery under the cab floor on the passenger side. Really couldnt find any battery hatch that i care for, so I fabricated this one. It will have a seal when the lid closes with the slam latch. I also made a Trim piece for when the carpet gets put in to give it a nice finished look. I still need to fabricate another 1/4" frame so i can weld it underneath the floor and thread the holes for the screws, so so I can put a seal between the hatch frame and floor to weather proof it.

Re: slammed 57

How much time you have into that battery hatch cover? Because everybody I have talked with says they are not making them anymore in that size. You could fill a need for the "underfloor battery community"..... just sayin!

Or it could be used as a Ice Chest Cooler lid for hiding under the bed?????

So many uses!

Thanks ptc... I have about 10 hrs in building that ... probably can do it in 4 or 5 hrs if I made a jig to whip"em out. it is pretty heavy duty and solid. The latch alone was about $15 which I could only find at a marine store.. anything marine is $$$ The latch I really wanted to put in was a nice polished stainless steel one but it was a whopping $40...once again cuz it was marine..Lotta money for a latch and for something that is goin to be coverd up by a floor mat.lol
. who know if it gets enough interested I just may do so..I love fabricating

Hell I'll order two to get you started (no latches).... if thats what it takes just let me know what what you want for them first. I found some smaller lids on the site listed below, but they dont make the big one anymore. The 6x6 and 8x8 are brushed or polished stainless steel for $55 or $75 either size.

Re: slammed 57

FINALLY ! put in the BBC , Took a while to get it in position being a custom frame and nothing to go by. I used turn buckels to keep the engine in position to take mesurements and the final weld for the mounts. The engine is pushed back 3 3/4" to improve handling also to give me extra clerance for the belt drive system (Pictured below)

I will be using a PRC horizontal radiator with dual fans and even though the engine was pushed back, I will need to push the radiator forward a 1 1/2" thorough the core support to squeeze in the belt drive

Re: slammed 57

Looking good Mike!!! your cog belt made me re-think my whole engine mount system now too. Thanks for detailing it out. My supercharger will have a 2.5" wide cog belt drive. I guess my firewall has got to get moved no matter what!
