Re: Tach help please

I can't offer much in the way of which engine this tach will work for, but I can say it looks to be a later unit if its factory (i.e., without a transmitter box).

I did find this post that includes a picture of an OE-1 by member 1963c-10. Not sure if they are still on here or if that was their tach that was pictured. I believe what you have is a V8 tach, but I am not certain.

Take a look at this. Pretty sure the owner (Bob Ashlock) can set you up, regardless of what the original tach was for.

Re: Tach help please

Ron at Williamson's Instruments in Arkansas is top notch. He just repaired an old Sun tach for me by converting it to solid state. Super nice guy and quick turnaround.

100% agree...just purchased one of his units and I am using an original 8 cyl tach with a 6 cyl. (It also will work with the HEI)

Re: Tach help please

If that tach works with a points-type distributor, it should work fine on an HEI. There is a TACH terminal on the HEI, just run a wire there from the DIST terminal on your tach.

Re: Tach help please

Ok,so I reached out to Bob at ashlocktech and he told me I should be fine with my DUI HEI dizzy. He went out of his way to research my dizzy to find out! As was mentioned above what a super knowledgeable and nice guy!! Thanks so much for the great info.
