Radiator date codes? What does the tag stand for?

Ok guys what does this tag represent? I have these two rad's to have restored with a new core. I'm restoring a 71 Cheyenne Super with a 350 and would like to have a "correct" tag. Both of these rad's are 3 core A/T and are identical. Any info would be great!
Thanks, Tom

Re: Radiator date codes? What does the tag stand for?

Tom,
From my research I have found that the large font on the tag represents the "broadcast code" which was used on the assembly line to identify the radiator as a whole, I do believe this number should be on your build sheet.

The smaller fonts on the left identify the end tanks used in each particular application. the numbers below those identify the radiator core assembly,

Also if you wire brush the bottom lip you should be able to see the actual GM part number.

Here is a link that although it does not pertain to our trucks it will help explain the coding.

Re: Radiator date codes? What does the tag stand for?

As stated, the IA and OK are tank codes. I believe the IA is the driver's side and the OK is passenger side. The tanks themselves should also have the same numbers stamped into them. Between the O and K should be a smaller letter date month code. Attached is mine as an example. I have not been able to locate the IA on the driver's side, which is a much smaller tank.

Re: Radiator date codes? What does the tag stand for?

Livrat and geunther, Thanks! That's some good info. I'll look at my tanks. Unfortunately I don't have the build sheet on this truck. The seat was changed at sometime so the sheet is long gone.
Thanks, Tom
