dual tank fuel line routing help

Not sure if anyone can help. 74 C20 with dual tanks, no vapor line. When I got the truck, the cross hard lines were not present (all fuel hose), so I'm not sure how they should be routed across. All I know is, the cross lines I got from Inline Tube do not see to fit correctly, no matter what position I place them in.

All I've seen is photos of 80 & up trucks, where the fuel lines are placed on the outside of the cross brace. From all I can tell, this was not how they were routed on a 73-74.

Please post a pic if you have one. Much appreciated.
