Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...

We have sun shine and cool weather, the coolest in a long time for August.

My wife and went for a walk and then for a swim this after noon. The water is very cool and the water level is very high in the lake for this time of year.
No complaints from me.

Always good to hear you are getting in some truck time.

Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...

Forty plus days of 90s. Stupid humidity and rain almost every afternoon. Must be one of the hottest summers I can recall. It's supposed to cool down to the 80s the first part of the week and back to the 90s.

II feel ya, we had major humidity and temps running near 100, with feels like temps hovering between 110-115, for about that past month. Lots of the afternoon thunder showers thanks to the humidity levels... This cool front outta Canada has the air dry and cool, was 63 this morning...

Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...

Hey Guyz...

Yesterday and part of today has been spent working on the Gas door modification... I also ordered my Fuel sender from LMC, so soon, very soon, I should be able to hop in twist the key and move this beast under it's own power...

I started off cutting the Fuel door from the Squarebody bed I acquired...Sorry Squarebody guys!!!
Untitled by Donald Olivo, on Flickr
Untitled by Donald Olivo, on Flickr

I then began the process of cleaning, repairing and installing on the Stepper's L/Stepside Fender... Here's a shot after removing the hoses and starting the cleaning process...
Untitled by Donald Olivo, on Flickr

Found some rust that needed to be repaired...
Untitled by Donald Olivo, on Flickr

Let the games begin...
Untitled by Donald Olivo, on Flickr

Patch welded in, Parts painted that could be before welding in..., and new Locking Gas Cap...
Untitled by Donald Olivo, on Flickr

Here's a closer shot of repaired area...
Untitled by Donald Olivo, on Flickr

Next step... Mark and cut Fender...
Untitled by Donald Olivo, on Flickr
Untitled by Donald Olivo, on Flickr

Forgot to get pic of hole cut in fender...
...but, here's the Welding getting started...
Untitled by Donald Olivo, on Flickr
Untitled by Donald Olivo, on Flickr

Still gotta grind and get back in primer, door is just set in to see what it's gonna look like...
Untitled by Donald Olivo, on Flickr

I know, it's opening to the rear, but on the donor, it was on the Passenger side and my tank fills on the Driver's side, so...

Spotted this one Saturday while working, shot this pic earlier today on a run into town... I think I've talked with this guy before, not sure though...
Untitled by Donald Olivo, on Flickr

Will post more after grinding and body work finished...

Laterz...

thinkin' maybe you're like me... wishing that August and Sept. had 41 days instead of 31 so we could have more done by October. Right there with you buddy... thrashin' on a deadline. I like the push but we have a lot of important distractions... make it or not, we sure will get alot done under the gun.

Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...

More truck time today...

Purchased the filler hose, vent hose, clamps and other assorted goodies this week, installed the Fuel level sender, hooked up hoses and electrics... and with the help of a friend and his 2 boys, we set the bed on... Starting to snowball towards a running driving truck...

On to the pics...

Thanx for looking in guys... Between work and life, progress has slowed a bit... but still grabbing truck time when I can...

Only one day off this week, so here's a small update, but an update nonetheless!!! A few more steps forward...

I started the day out planning to finally bleed brakes and clutch... planning to being the key...
After getting the truck off all four wheels, I decided to tackle a few smaller jobs first... Of course, once I was in the middle of mounting and wiring the taillights... Life stepped in and delayed plans to bleed the above mentioned systems...

Once I had the Spare Tire Carrier mounted, I snapped this for Bomp's selfie thread... it'll get there eventually...
Untitled by Donald Olivo, on Flickr

Here's the Spare mount...
Untitled by Donald Olivo, on Flickr
Untitled by Donald Olivo, on Flickr
Untitled by Donald Olivo, on Flickr

I then mounted the Taillights, Tailgate, and Rear Bumper...
Untitled by Donald Olivo, on Flickr
Untitled by Donald Olivo, on Flickr

Finally, Here's a Side shot from earlier today...
Untitled by Donald Olivo, on Flickr

A local friend has some drop springs for the rear that I'm contemplating grabbing to drop the back a bit more...

Still need to mount and wire the License Plate Bracket then, other than paint and bed floor, the rear will be complete...

Laterz...

It was pointed out to me once long ago that without life in the way what good would these trucks be.
Then I had to drop everything and do Honey Do's.
Sometimes when there is a long gap on truck time the truck time is even more rewarding.
Diggin' the progress you're making even with the limited truck time.

It's ALIVE!!!
Spent yesterday and today bleeding clutch and brakes, hanging doors and attempting to spend some quality time with the Mrs. during my 2 days off... Enough of the typing... Enjoy because I sure enjoyed driving the stepper around instead of pushing it...

My friend was shooting the video so there's a bit of a delay while I was coming back up the road...

https://youtu.be/oZgBLftGXf0

Here's a shot from early this morning... First formation of geese heading South...
Untitled by Donald Olivo, on Flickr

And the truck waiting for some attention...
Untitled by Donald Olivo, on Flickr

No pics taken through the day... Had a friend over to help with the blleding chores... but here are a few taken after the drive in the video...
Untitled by Donald Olivo, on Flickr
Untitled by Donald Olivo, on Flickr
Untitled by Donald Olivo, on Flickr

Now to address all the little details and get the front clip on as well as getting the door innards re-installed...
