Can the shift indicator pointer be adjusted?

When my truck is in Park the shift indicator is way off to the left. Is there any way to adjust it so it is closer to the 'Park' lettering?

While we're on the topic of shifters, is there any way to tighten up the feel of the shifter? It's kind of vague and doesn't really click in to each gear. The shift lever is good and tight since I replaced the pin and the plastic bushing on the end of the lever. I'm guessing the problem is wear related so maybe that just means replacing some parts, but I was hoping to get confirmation from you all.

Mine was really vague and kind of sluggish feeling, so I thoroughly lubed the column from the top with a spray silicone lube, and sprayed the shifter mechanism at the bottom of the column on the engine side of the firewall. Feels much crisper now, but still not perfect.

Not sure about the alignment of the pointer, but someone else will jump in on this I bet.

I removed the gear indicator housing, can someone tell me what this metal bump is for under it?

You can adjust the linkage under the hood to get your indicator pointing correctly. Just loosen the locking nut on the linkage and move it up or down on the long rod until the indicator points to the correct position.
When I bought my truck the shifter didn't work smoothly, really hard to get it in park. I drove it like that for years then one day I removed the gear shifter and found the ball on the end of the shifter wasn't in the column correctly. I greased it and put it back the way it was suppose to be and it has been working right every since.

how can the bulb be changed? is the bulb in this silver thing in the hole on the column? I had rotator surgery and can't use my right arm for 4 more weeks and it is killing me not to be able to go out and tinker....

Had the same issue with mine. I used a 2spd column on mine and I think that was the difference for me I also had a 3 spd and the bolts circled in red were drilled at different spots. Well I already had the 2 spd restored and painted so no way was I going to restore another column. I re drilled the holes and elongated them to make it adjustable.

I am also using a 700r4 with a lokar linkage and tried adjusting and it would not even come close. Now Everything is perfect and can manual shift to every gear. When I shift to 1st it is a little right of the l1 which for me is perfect.

The Fiber Optic cable came on Non-tilt columns, and the bulb is in the Tilt.

The metal cover should just pull off and the bulb and socket will be underneath hopefully. The bulb socket attaches to the underside of the turn signal switch with a screw and it has a prong that contacts the metal underneath for a ground. These are known for losing the connection to ground.
