68 C10 exhaust with C-notch

Running into a lot of issues with 4/6 drop suspension with Cnotch install. I'm glad that I took it to a shop install but I've already put in way more than I anticipated.. The latest is the clearance around the rear axle.

Truck is short bed 350, 700R4 with full length headers.

For those with similar drop, what exhaust are you running and are you dumping out before the axle? Are you using an X pipe? Looks like best two options are turn downs in front of the axle or go through the body.

I'm concerned about exhaust drone and exhaust smell getting in to the cab.

It really shouldn’t be that difficult.

My Blazer is bagged with a bolt-in c-notch. When I dump the bags the axle sits on the highest part of the notch. I am running full exhaust ending behind the rear wheels and it goes up and over the axle Just like it should.

Maybe the shop you’ve chosen isn’t up to the task.

I wish i had some undercarriage pics. This is the best I’ve got. It does not make contact with the body, axle or frame. And i can roll at the height you see here.

Thanks for the reply. what about the driveshaft length? Any issues with binding?

I agree about the shop but I am committed at this point

Edit: the driveshaft issue may be related to the shop that put the engine/trans combination in before I owned the truck.

How custom is the truck? I really like the exhaust through the fender, or to notch the fender, in front of the rear wheel but it might look a little out of place if the rest of the truck is quite stock looking.

Owner before me just cut the stock springs so it was a real kidney buster. This photo is before it went in for the proper suspension.

You could always switch to Chevelle headers, then tuck the exhaust in the frame and run the pipes through the crossmember with these. --> https://azproperformance.com/collect...rage-63-72-c10

I ran into issues with routing my exhaust on my 70 GMC long bed. I installed RideTech's StrongArm 4 link rear suspension, replacing my leaf springs. The RideTech suspension left no room for the mufflers I wanted to use. I also have a rear mounted gas tank that did not leave room for exhaust pipes that travel over the rear axle. I'm using Headman shorty headers. I did not want my mufflers mounted under the cab because of heat and noise. The exhaust is run through the cross member for better ground clearance. Then crosses over the frame just before the frame starts to rise to meet the floor of the bed. From there the pipe travels over the rear axle, then drops slightly to the muffler, then exits the rear of the truck. The mufflers are tucked up outside the frame and located after the rear axle. The exhaust is completely tucked up into the frame and will never contact the ground. My transmission oil pan and engine oil pan would hit the ground first.

Thanks for the replies. Coil springs. The unexpected issues are related to the installation of the ride tech kit. A few with the ride tech kit itself, but mostly with the quality of work the previous owner did on the truck. It seems to be a puppy mill truck, a quick resto make it look good enough flip. In the end it will be much better, but didn't anticipate the extra cost.

Yeah, go to that shop and tell show them how it can be done .

A whole lot of these trucks get sold the way yours did. Every money hungry pig that wheels & deals vehicles is out there looking for the next one. I wouldn't buy a truck freshly done and if it was a basic turn key truck with all the cool things done I would only buy it from the guy who has owned and driven it for a while. That truck was done for him to drive and enjoy, not a flipper. water over the dam, but no rare tale to buy a surprise package in the form of a 67-72 SWB

Mine is a 5/6 drop c-notched with 3” exhaust up and over the axle and haven’t had any problems with it clearing
