A few years ago on a couple of Sunday afternoons New Smyrna Speedway hosted what they called "Old Time Drag Racing". Pay a $5 entry, sign the waiver & burn all the tire you want. They had a pretty girl starter & you'd line up and go on her arm drop. 1/2 mi. asphalt oval, & with a concrete pit road that the drag racing was on. You'd run maybe an eight mile toward the oval's first turn. You needed to figure how fast you wanted to try the first turn. Probably 75 cars, trucks, motorcycles, karts.. showed up. Only took 10 mins. or so to go around & run again. I like this picture 'cause it was a FUN afternoon.
