I have `97s in mine. The wife and I love it with the air adjustable lumbar. You'll have to drill 4 holes. I got the shoulder harness and seat belts to match with mine. Don't forget the wireing harness when you get them.

Re: 88-98 Bench seat in our trucks????

I put one out of an 89-90 vintage in my '68 and one from a '96 in my SWB. Here are some pics (The '96 seat has been re-shaped considerably but it gives yo an idea of the "fit").

I used the front holes and build an "adapter" plate that I attached to the back of the seat frame and uses the rear factory holes (You can just see it behind the seat belt). I found this to be the most comfortable and provides the best fit in the cab. By leaning the seat back a bit it puts the top of the seat back flush with the bottom of the rear window.

Nice interior! Everything flows real smooth. You do the custom door panels?

Re: 88-98 Bench seat in our trucks????

Bump for an old thread here...

I really like these 88-92 bench seats, especially the ones with the driver's armrest. I'd like to find one to reupholster in the 67-72 original cloth or vinyl style (or as close a possible).

Anyone tried this or have experience doing so? Any feedback would be appreciated before I start looking for one.

Example for reference:

IIRC, that fabric is bonded to the foam. No idea how you would recover them.

Thumbs up Re: 88-98 Bench seat in our trucks????

I have one in the Ramp truck now. I had one for about 10 years in my 71 C-10 it was a 60/40 seat no arm rest but swapped them for 99 Tahoe heated seats. They both have arm rest's in them. I have another one going in the 68 step if I keep it. I used the shoulder belts out of each vehicle also.

After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Here's one I had recovered. It was expensive, and the guy said NEVER again! It can be done.

Good luck, Rg

Re: 88-98 Bench seat in our trucks????

Here's another one. This was the only modification to my truck when I got it other than an FM radio adapter and speaker. It looked a lot like the one in RedRider's post but I took the superclean and pressure washer to it. Figured I didn't have much to loose and it cleaned up pretty darn good.

Uses the back two factory holes and the installer drilled two new holes up front.

This is what I was worried about. To reupholster it in the 67-72 style may not be worth the time and effort.

I appreciate the pics, thank you all for the feedback. I'm looking at a new Glide Engineering frame; they have a fold-down armrest similar to the 88-98 style, although it's more centered in the seat.

You used a pressure washer on that seat!

Re: 88-98 Bench seat in our trucks????

Andy,
Yes I did! Turned the pressure down to minimum, started at the top and worked my way down. It was after soaking down with a 50/50 mix of superclean and water. Repeated the process twice and then sucked as much water as I could out of it with a shop vac. Moved it into the sun and let it dry.

You should have seen the brown water coming out of it! I figured I would not keep the seat so if I ruined it I wasn’t out much.

Cool Re: 88-98 Bench seat in our trucks????

I just bought one just like it that needs a good cleaning but I don't think my pressure washer is adjustable except for the different heads for it.

Look up stockinteriors.com
They actually carry all of these factory seat covers (88-94) if you prefer the factory look.

TOOK SOME 1 " Flat stock and cut 2 pieces about 8" long and mounted to cup holder then over to the seat frame and attached it with sheet metal screws. So the bracket I made kind of resembles a H
