Ah yea, I love the raked look. Mine is a 3/5 drop with a 1" taller rear tire on ol goldilocks.

my front end settled down another inch or so after this pic was taken, I should bring the back down another two inches but the way it sits right now when i'm cruising down the road the rear coilovers are just visible from behind.

I like a very slight rake myself. IMHO it originated back in the day because thats all we had. No real options except get fat tires under it and send it. As stated above, the weight transfer thing is valid.
To me, the look is played and outdated...but thats me. Im bagging mine right now. I simply got tired of figuring out tire height/static drop/etc...Ill just put it where I want it depending on my mood. This is just after the 3.75/5 static drop. The rake was about right for me, but I started looking at wheels/tires and started chopping...

Just a slight rake on my 72 . But the Chevelle is a little more pronounced as it has coilovers I can fine tune the stance

With my air ride I've been able to try it all. This is how I usually run it - slight rake. Shows more rubber out back.

A stock short bed has a 2" rake, so just drop front and rear the same and there ya go! My SWB project has 4/6 drop and I like that look as well as a rake. I want to tow and use the bed to haul more than a cooler, plus the vibe I'm going for is a period correct hot truck. The look in the late '60s-early '70s was raked. So I figured I'd replace the 6" springs with 4" springs. But I also like that level like a car look. So I plan to use auxiliary air springs (Airlift bags) inside the coils. I could just use the bags that go in place of coils, but any issues with the bags not holding air and you are stuck w/o suspension. The ride with get stiffer the more I raise it, but not like air shocks, which is what was used in that time period.

My short stepper has a 4 1/2" front and 4" rear drop on coils with 255/70/15 all around and just for curiosity the other day I laid a 4' long level on the top of the bed rail and it shows to have a 2" rake. More than I thought really.

A loaded truck doesn't matter to me but unloaded I like them with a slight rake. As mentioned; butt up, face down. Its ki da hard ti see when parked on an up hill grade, but there is a slight rake on mine.
