Polished Aluminum Outer Grill Shell

Did I miss this or are they a new item?
71-72 Chevy C10 Truck Polished Aluminum Outer Grill Shell
I have found the chromed steel one before but never the polished aluminum ones. They go fore $500, for the shell only.
Anybody purchased one? Pictures if you have them.

Re: Polished Aluminum Outer Grill Shell

I'm in the opposite camp, It is my understanding that all the 71/72 outer grills were anodized - polished - aluminum. I've never seen a chromed one...that I know of. Hmmmm?

Re: Polished Aluminum Outer Grill Shell

Get with Kevin at Bowtie - I just ordered a Chromed/steel one. He has pictures and details of the tow he offers. What I remember of the conversation

Chrome/Steel - finish is remarkable, and fit is extremely good, especially around the fenders
Aluminum- more dull finish than the chrome and not as good of fit - need to mock up grill to fenders before paint.

Re: Polished Aluminum Outer Grill Shell

The chrome grill really makes any C10 pop.
Here is a picture of one from the internet.
I've heard they don't hold up well on everyday drivers but my guess is most are for show.
From least polished to full polish likely goes in this order;
Stock OEM
Polished aftermarket grille.
Chrome Aftermarket grille.

Re: Polished Aluminum Outer Grill Shell

I have the chrome one. It really looks nice but was a lot of work to get it to fit the fenders.

Where did you get that chromed steel grill for your 1970? Looks great! Also, is the black lettering and stripes painted or decals? Did you do it or did it come that way?

I got it from LMC. Right now they are out of stock. I waited months to get mine.

Re: Polished Aluminum Outer Grill Shell

Thanks for the info. I’m surprised that the black is paint. Didn’t think paint would stick to chrome.
