Tonneau Cover - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I'm not sure I like the idea of a tonneau cover for my truck but it's looking like I am probably going to need one. If I do decide to put one on I was hoping to get some recommendations from here. I think I would want the least invasive ( no drilling, etc) one that still looks nice and will hold up. Any help would be much appreciated.

Can't go wrong with Craftec covers in Texas. Just got one for my 72 stepside & I love it...great quality.

I went with a Pace Edwards retractable. Secure and quite weatherproof. You can see that when rolled up, the bed is still very usable and you don't have to worry about taking the cover off if you need to haul anything large.

Any other options that don’t cover the top of the bed sides as much. I shaved all my stake holes and it would be a wast to totally cover that

I shaved the stake holes on my stepside also...with the Craftec covers,3" of the bedside tops are exposed. Go on their web site...they have lots of pics with the covers installed on trucks.

I have the Craftec on mine for over 2 yrs now it’s been a good cover for the price.

If a Roll-up style works for you Truxedo ones have worked for me.
Install in minutes with clamps, no drilling. Very low profile and if you use your truck to haul things when it's rolled up you can actually put stuff in the back.

I got mine from LMC, it's a Blackmax from Xtang.

Ordered one of these Truxedos for my truck. Its on back order now and should be here by end of Sept. You guys in the USA probably wouldn't have the wait we get up here. There are YouTube videos for the installation of these.

That's why I got it. There's a frame that the cover snaps to so I didn't have to drill holes.

Yes, no holes.
I consider holes in the box the same as door speaker holes.
Shouldn't be there.
Some nice tonneau options that I never thought of.

Ordered the Truxedo Lo-Pro for my 72 LWB from Summit. Same price, free shipping, and got the last one they had in stock, should ship tomorrow.

I saw one in person on a squarebody at a show Saturday night and that sold me on it. Will come in very handy when I drive it up to C10 Fall Revival in October.

I'll post pics when I get it.

This is a Truxedo cover.
Originally for an 08 Ram -8' box.
Length was perfect, width at the front was almost perfect. The cover tapers a little more than 4" towards the back.
I trimmed a 2x6 for a filler strip. It's hard to tell from the picture but the wood tapers down to a point at the front.
I painted it black for now and am working on a nicer solution to cover the wood.
It's not perfect, but for $200. I can live with it on my low budget driver.

I had the style that snapped onto a frame that was secured to the bed top. It was ok but wasn’t easy to roll up by yourself.

I shopped a couple of times but was unable to find something better that was listed as fitting 67-72.

This spring a friend sold his 2019 F350 and didn’t sell his tonneau cover with it. So when he went to sell it I was curious. He was gracious enough to send it home with me to see if it would fit.

Fit, it does!

It’s real easy to roll up and store. Lays flat thanks to the built in tarp supports. Stays tight.

They stopped making these in Feb but the they still might be avaliable

It does cover the bed rails and hangs over. Bed contents are secured, completely weather tight if front seal is addressed, locks and tailgate cannot be opened unless it is up. Takes a bit more than a pocket knife to get through it.
Yes it is pricy, especially when painted.
Edit- Forgot to mention, zero drilling for installation.

I'm a fan of Access Covers by AgriCover. I've had one on my daily driver for the last 15 years, and just put one on the new GMC. Durable, clamp inside the rail to keep the stake pockets open, and I like their design better than Truxedo and some of the other flat-top soft tonneau covers.

I agree, I had one, my brother and dad both still have one. There product listing only goes back to 1973.

The Freedom EZ Roll I posted above is very similar. the only major difference is the Freedom you have to unhook both rear corners to release it and my Access Cover and a single pull in the middle.

Maybe an Access Cover for a 2019 Super Duty would have fit.
