Vintage, Old School, OG, Oldies, Traditional, Olden days?

How is it possible that all of these words can be used for the every day regular things during my lifetime? ... Ugh! LOL!

Re: Vintage, Old School, OG, Oldies, Traditional, Olden days?

Seems like just yesterday those terms were used for stuff "before my time". Just sitting here wondering what happened =)

When I was a kid pretty much all of my friends were born in the 50's ... some very early 60's, wasnt weird at all. Now when you tell some young kid you were born in the 50's they cant figure out how come youre still alive haha.

Funny how our perspective changes with the passage of time. When I was much younger, anyone over 50 was old.

In my forties, the target shifted to those over 60. Now that I'm in my seventies..... well, you can see where this is going.

Yep, as the years roll by perspective and such changes as the years tally up. The word OLD moves things into the realm of anything that is from 1800's is OLD, LOL.

I remember my girlfriends mother turned 44. I thought she was old.

I don't get it either. LOL! But I have been thinking about this. Let me ask you this. When you were 18 could you even fathom what life might be like way off in the year 2021? The other thing is, look how far we've come*

* So serious

Re: Vintage, Old School, OG, Oldies, Traditional, Olden days?

Tim, when I was 18 I had just enlisted verses being drafted with basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo. 1969 when that song came out I found myself in SE Asia packing an M-16 for my Uncle. Little did I know then what the year 2021 would be like but I do remember that song very well. Listening to it on Armed Force Radio Saigon made me wonder then about man's future and even more so now. We've come a long way but the achievements we've made don't seem to live up to the expectations we had back then.

Re: Vintage, Old School, OG, Oldies, Traditional, Olden days?

I know what you mean Mark.. I remember back when I was around 25 years old and a kid of maybe 10 addressed me as "SIR" .. I thought what's wrong with that kid ,,I'm not old enough to look like a old guy that is referred to as "Sir"

Answer is to all this is like what I have been hearing all my life "Time Flys"

Like Mark said, no complaining. Anyway you are just 6 years my senior, therefore you are not old.
I was in high school when Kennedy was killed. They broadcast it into all the classrooms. Some of the girls were crying.

I was in Jr High when Kennedy was killed, but didn't see it happen. I saw Jack Ruby bust a cap on Oswald, live on TV though.

No, Ruby said stuff I can't repeat here. "Bust a cap" is indeed street slang. I learned a lot, living in LA County for about 40 years.

I'm thinking all the words used in this title are another way to say the same thing. Better.

Re: Vintage, Old School, OG, Oldies, Traditional, Olden days?

My Mom was pregnant for me when Kennedy was killed. My parents were living in Virginia while my Dad was in the Navy. We didn't stay there long he got out in 1964.

I guess I'm still just a kid around here.

I'm sure with this older group. I was born in 1940. Still wondering where 81 yrs have gone. Can't believe so many long term friends and relatives are not with us. As the saying goes,-------I'm still in pretty good shape for the shape I'm in. It's been good, tho, in spite of the bumps now and then.
