Roofing is going on , few more days and the building part will be done.
(except for what I get to do, insulation,wiring,heat,lights ,loft,sheetrock etc.)
less concrete.

2nd snow this year , might be it for the year ? Seattle area usually doesn't get much . Almost done with exterior ! Notice the huge man door in back.
Handy for removing lawn mowers , wheelbarrows etc. w/o dragging past cars.

We are going to put in a shop here next to our house. Only have room for an 18x28. (My wallet couldn't afford a larger one anyway).

We've been waiting a couple of months for the city and county to ok our permits and they finally came through. Now I have to do a little site work and wait for the contractor to fit us in. Sounds like its going to be early spring-ish.

The fiber is only for reinforcement, like wire mesh. Make sure they add a vapor barrier and make dern sure they cut your expansion joints THE SAME DAY. I'm not a county inspector but I do have about 15 certifications from ACI, NICET, etc related to concrete. All concrete will crack. You can only control the cracking and that's by use of saw joints. Joints won't help the curing process. A deeper thickness of concrete will cure slower than thinner lifts, and this could lead to cracking. If it were mine, I'd reinforce it with 10 x 10 wire mesh or either use fiber in my concrete (whichever one was the cheapest). I'd keep the slump of the concrete to 5" or less, and I'd cut the saw joints just as soon as it was finished.

Not much change , has gutters now , other than that I am still working with
my salesman or better yet waiting for him to call me (go figure) .

Ran into my salesman at the homeshow last night , asked him where my garage doors were ? My stepson called last night and said he saw them put them up ! They did they just didn't close them so they weren't visible (DUH)
So only have concrete left and theyre phase is done !

Now that I know "All concrete will crack". What can I use to fill/seal the cracks in my slab before I apply the finish coating? I'd also like to fill in the saw/expansion joints prior to coating so any thing with steel wheels or small wheels won't tend to hang up when rolled over these areas. Any advice is appreciated.

Fish,

The best thing to do with the expansion joints is to put the foam caulk-backer into the deep holes, and fill them with caulk. Saw joints can probably just be caulked.

Most cracks will happen over a period of time, generally not right after being poured. If they do happen right away, you have more problems. You can fill the contraction joints with caulking or anything that doesn't harden. You want whatever you put in there to be able to expand/contract with the concrete.

Well Its not one of the "price leader" type buildings . It has ,beside the custom design ,alot of upgrades and every lil thing jumps up ALOT in price .
The roof alone was thousands more but looks so much better IMHO than the typical siding type roof . And its sheeted underneath so its stronger and that
dreaded steel building sweat issue is less . adding windows and larger man door , insulated garage doors . Around here you can get a cheap building , which if it were in my backyard I may have, for around 8k . Mine on the other hand is far from done , so it'll keep costing for a very long time. Lets just say I could have bought a new Chevy truck with change left over .

Rigged up some lights so I can work at night , adding the vapor barrier
double and triple layered in spots . Had 4 mil lying around and covered that with 6 mil . Hope that does it !

Well maybe someday , I'd really like to but my $ is all gone so yes but when ?

Right now just doin the ol' one step at a time. Some day loft , Shop theatre
floor covering , lift , Muscle car , bla bla bla
Also have 3 kids , one soon to be in college , A wonderful wife whos been supportive about this shop but also wants her garage done up , as well as a kitchen expansion etc. etc. etc.
I think this shop will be alot like most of our trucks never really done !
