Headlight Bulbs

I have a 1994 K1500 and would like a little brighter head lights, any problems with just replacing them with LED bulbs? The LED lights don't draw as much amps as the regular bulbs do, correct? If anyone has done something else, I'm open to ideas.

I haven't done it myself, but have you done the harness upgrade people do to put more power direct to the lights to brighten them? Not sure what it takes, if anything, to install LEDs.

Re: Headlight Bulbs

I have Auxbeams in my worktruck, had some in my old Tahoe I had. They are great for the money. Can get different colors/lumens, still not exspensive. I have some in one of my trucks, but haven't driven it yet....

Re: Headlight Bulbs

You can put LED bulbs in, relay harness is not required since the draw for LED is so low. Relay harness is recommended if you were to stay with stock or H4 style bulbs. I would recommend getting new headlight buckets if the glass is yellowed or in bad shape so you can maximize the output of whichever bulb you end up going with.

Re: Headlight Bulbs

Going with the led bulbs, harness kit so both lights are on, on bright and a led 3rd brake light. Might try the replacement led bulbs in the tail lights also.

Re: Headlight Bulbs

Great! try to get before/after night shots if possible, helpful for you and for others that come across this thread. Here's a review I did on 5 3/4 LED lights on a GMC a while back:

Re: Headlight Bulbs

I suggested the harness upgrade because you might find that's all the improvement needed. It's no secret LEDs are brighter than sealed beam and drawn less current. I don't know how much light some people need, but I sure do get blinded by how bright some lights are these days. Don't ever forget to dim those hi-beams!
