1995 long bed to short bed conversion kit?

I'm in the market for a new hot rod project and I'm considering a 95 Silverado 2WD long box. Supposed to be a "rust free" truck from Texas.
I would be converting it to a short box. I did searches but I'm a bit confused on the best way to go frame shortening wise. I know on 67-87's they cut the frame with like a LMC kit. Does a 1995 frame conversion work the same way.
I've also seen some posts on moving the rear axle forward and then just cutting the back of the frame off.
I'm not afraid of cutting welding the frame or drilling rivets to move the axle forward.
I haven't bought anything yet just trying to plan ahead.
Any help would be great.

If you're traveling that far for a truck just get a short bed truck. 95 is the oddball year with some specific 95 only parts.

The truck is some what local to me 100 miles away.
It's a 4.3/auto combo.
What's weird about the 95's?

88-94 inside cab or 95-up for the design of the inside . and 95 is last year OBD1 computer and 1st year new inside so some parts are 1 year only like a hvac control head and some other stuff .

and the 88-up truck frames bow out under the cab and get wider as they go to the rear so a short bed frame swap might be better for you .

Computer and transmission are unique to 95, as well as some interior parts.

They can be shortened but it's not as easy as the older trucks.
